Team Winamax Pro Bruno Lopes Wins 2016 Winamax SISMIX Main Event

Nível 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

After almost six hours of play on the final table, the Team Winamax pro Bruno Lopes from France emerged as the winner of the 2016 Winamax SISMIX Main Event for 850,000 MAD (€78,341). Lopes is now closing in on $1 million in career live tournament earnings after the victory.

The Main Event victory marks the third-biggest win for Lopes in his poker career, and his fourth biggest tournament cash. In 2012, he won the Euro Finals of Poker €5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Diamond Championships for €100,000, the WPT National Series Cannes €1,650 Main Event for €108,000, and then he took fourth place in the EPT Madrid €5,300 Main Event for €140,000.

The day began with 22 players competing it out in hopes to later in the day emerge victorious at the final table. It didn't take long for the first elimination of the day to take place with Romain Lewis exiting the tournament in 22nd place for 36,000 MAD (€3,318) after he shoved his stack of a little more than 20 big blinds in with {2-}{2-}. Lewis found himself dominated by [Removed:13]'s {7-}{7-} and was unable to improve his hand on the {k-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Spades} board.

Eliminations early in the day continued in fairly quick succession, with play down to two six-max tables after the third blind level was in the books. Very soon after that France's Alexis Fleur snagged the chip lead and never gave it up until play was heads up.

After six hours of play, the unofficial seven-handed final table, which was an all-French affair, was declared with all remaining players agreeing it was time to take a dinner break. Play resumed almost 90 minutes later at 9 p.m. local time when, on the very first hand back, Thomas Cazayous, who at the time held the second shortest stack, was eliminated when his {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} was unable to beat Fleur's {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} after getting it all in for his remaining 11 big blinds to bow out in seventh place for 122,000 MAD (€11,244).

About an hour later, Karim Benamrouche was the next player eliminated after he was all in for his short stack of nine big blinds with the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and was outmatched by [Removed:13]'s {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Despite temporarily causing some excitement when he was temporarily ahead with a pair on the {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} board, the {4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} completed the board, giving Guiglini a better pair and eliminating Benamrouche in sixth place for 160,000 MAD (€14,747).

Once again it was about another hour before the next elimination, as Grégory Cometto was able to double up on back-to-back hands to appear to be back in the thick of things. However, Cometto's luck ran out after he cold four-bet the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and was called by Team Winamax pro Bruno Lopez who held the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. A queen spiked the flop, ending Cometto's hopes at a title and sending him to the rails in fifth place for 210,000 MAD (€19,355).

The remaining four players were then battling it out for about 90 minutes before Guiglini and Lopes collided in a post-flop battle leading to Guiglini's elimination in fourth place for 275,000 MAD (€25,346).

We didn't have to wait long after that for the next elimination, when Fleur, who didn't look at his hand when making a button raise, called a cold four-bet shove by Sébastien Compte from the big blind for over 2 million after then looking at his cards and finding he was holding the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Compte had the {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and was just about drawing dead after the {10-Hearts} appeared on the flop.

Fleur then had a more than 2-1 chip advantage on his opponent and play was paused for a break. The heads-up battle appeared to be over before it began, with the duo getting it all in preflop with Fleur holding the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} to dominate Lopes with the {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}. The {4-Hearts}, however, moved the 2-1 chip advantage over to Lopes instead of sending him off with a second-place finish.

The duo then battled it out for almost three hours before Lopes was declared the winner when his {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} was able to out-flop Fleur's {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} after Fleur found himself very low on chips from a few hands before. Fleur finished runner-up for 565,000 MAD (€53,917).

Alexis Fleur Eliminated in Second Place (565,000 MAD)

Nível 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
Alexis Fleur
Alexis Fleur

The heads-up battle between Alexis Fleur and Winamax Team Pro Bruno Lopes began with the worst hand winning and ended that way as well. Fleur, who was down low due to folding on the river a few hands ago after calling a fairly large turn-bet got it all-in preflop for his remaining 2 million chips with {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} against Lopes' {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

Fleur was quickly behind when the {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} appeared on the flop to give his opponent a pair. Lopes was able to stay ahead in the hand when the {8-Spades} appeared on the turn followed by the {9-Hearts} on the river.

Alexis Fleur takes home 565,000 MAD (€53,917) for his runner-up performance while a Team Winamax pro wins the Winamax SISMIX Main Event for the second time in three years with Davidi Kitai winning the event in 2014. Last year was close with Team Winamax's Sylvain Loosli falling just short with a second place finish.

Bruno Lopes not only etches his name in the poker history books as the latest winner, but also walks away with a trophy and the top prize of 850,000 MAD (€78,341)

We haven't seen too many bad beats in big spots this tournament, but we just saw one now. Most of the crowd thought that the heads-up battle would be over almost before it began since on the very first hand the duo was all-in holding pocket pairs.

Bruno Lopes: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Alexis Fleur: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

A crowd gathered as {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{Q-Spades} appeared on the flop. The crowd then erupted when the {4-Hearts} appeared on the turn. The {6-Clubs} completed the board giving Lopes a two to one advantage after just holding a two to one deficit.

Shortly after Sébastien Compte winning an uncontested pot preflop against Bruno Lopes, he found himself all-in for his tournament life against chip leader Alexis Fleur.

Fleur min-raised the action from the button without looking at his cards to 200,000. Lopes three-bet the action from the small blind and Compte declared himself all-in for 2.16 million. Fleur then looked down at his cards and liked what he saw and called.

Compte: {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Fleur: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

It was just about over on the flop when Fleur nailed a set on a {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board leaving Compte needing two runners for a flush to save him. The {J-Clubs} on the turn had Compte drawing dead before the {6-Clubs} appeared on the river.

After Compte was eliminated in third place for 375,000 MAD (€34,562), action paused for a break with Fleur now holding a slightly more than two-to-one chip advantage.

Former Team Winamax member [Removed:13] and current Team Winamax pro Bruno Lopes just battled it out in a huge pot that sent the former to the rail.

Lopes raised the action preflop and Guiglini defended from the blinds. Both players then quietly checked on a {6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop before Guiglini led out for a bet 325,000 chips when the {5-Hearts} appeared on the turn. The pot then got big in a hurry as Lopes raised it up to 825,000 before Guiglini immediately declared himself all-in for over 2 million which Lopes called.

Lopes: {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Guiglini: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Guiglini was unable to get the few cards in the deck he needed to split the pot after the {3-Hearts} completed the board and collected 275,000 MAD (€25,346) for finishing in fourth place.

Easy come easy go for Grégory Cometto as he was just eliminated from the tournament in fifth place for 210,000 MAD (€19,355).

The hand began with [Removed:13] opening to 180,000 before Team Winamax pro Bruno Lopes three-bet to 450,000. Cometto then made a cold four-bet for 1.4 million. Guiglini gets out of the way and Lopes makes the call.

Cometto: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Lopes: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The suspense was more or less over when Lopes flopped a set when the {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} appeared on the board. Cometto was unable to get a miraculous save with a runner-runner when the {3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} appeared on the turn and the river.

On the first hand after the blinds increased, from late position Karim Benamrouche announced he was all-in for his remaining 720,000 stack or nine big blinds. To his left, [Removed:13] wasted no time in declaring he was all-in as well for 2.8 million. All other players folded and players turned over their cards.

Benamrouche: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Guiglini: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The crowd gathered gasped when the flop came {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} to give Benamrouche a temporary lead in the hand with top pair. His lead looked like it would hold when the {4-Hearts} appeared on the turn. However, the {Q-Hearts} came on the river eliminating Benamrouche in sixth place for 160,000 MAD (€14,747) and give Guiglini a stack of almost 3.5 million chips.

The next payout for fifth place will be 210,000 MAD (€19,355).

It didn't take long for the tournament to move from an unofficial to an official final table. On the first hand, Thomas Cazayous opened with a bet of 125,000. Alexis Fleur three-bet to 350,000 and Cazayous was quickly all-in for 640,000 which Fleur called.

Cazayous: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Fleur: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

While Cazayous earlier on today was able to win some flips while short-stacked, his luck ran out after when he was unable to improve his hand on a board of {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Even though Cazayous was unable to appear on the official final table, he was still able to haul in an impressive 122,000 MAD (€11,244) for finishing in seventh place. Meanwhile, Fleur's stack peeks over 6 million for the first time today.
