Shyamrag Charuvil opened from the hijack to 32,000. Hoa Nguyen raised to 92,000. Charuvil called.
He check-called a bet of 60,000 on the flop of 7♥K♠5♥ before check-calling again on the 6♣ turn. Nguyen sized up to 140,000. The A♥ river was checked down.
Charuvil tabled 8♣8♦ but was bested by the A♣Q♣ of Nguyen.
Steven Roche under the gun and Michel Molenaar in middle position had put 355,000 into the pot when the 10♥10♦9♥10♣ fell on the turn. Roche checked over to Molenaar, who bet 225,000.
Roche then promptly moved in his stack of 965,000, which Molenaar snap-called, slightly covering his opponent.
Steven Roche: Q♣J♣
Michel Molenaar: K♠K♥
Roche had no outs left against the full house of Molenaar, who raked in the gigantic pot on the 7♣ river, eliminating Roche in the process.
Stanislav Anufriiev open-jammed for 256,000 as first to act. Benedikt Wenzel isolated in the seat next to him, causing the rest of the table to muck their cards.
Stanislav Anufriiev: 4♠4♦
Benedikt Wenzel: A♦Q♠
Anufriiev's fours remained ahead on the 7♦3♥6♣ flop and 7♠ turn, but the 6♦ river made his pocket pair useless as he ended up playing the two pair on the board.
Wenzel's ace kicker won him the pot and sent Anufriiev to the rail.
Last year, a massive field of 3,233 entries assembled at the Royal Dublin Society for the 2024 Irish Open €1,150 Main Event. The tournament set a new record for the Irish Open and absolutely smashing the guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000 by creating a prize pool of €3,152,175.
However, as with any other tournament, there could only be one person left standing at the end. Over four long days of poker action, it was Day 3 chipleader Tero Laurila who won the iconic Irish Open trophy and took home €292,685 after a three-way deal.
Laurila defeated Ireland’s Hiep Ninh after a relatively short heads up battle, as the blinds had been reduced from 60 to 20 minutes after the deal. Ninh, who plays almost exclusively in Dublin, took home the larger sum of €335,636 for his efforts due to having a massive chip lead when the deal was made. The final person involved in the deal was the 21-year-old Mark Johnston, who is just dipping his toes in the waters of professional poker and walked away with €232,685 for third place.
