Day 1/A of the €1,150 Irish Open Main Event Kicks Off Today
The third day of the 2025 Irish Poker Open sponsored by PokerStars and Paddy Power will see the start of the €1,150 Main Event at 12 p.m. local time today. The Royal Dublin Society's tournament floor will see players from all around the world, all of which will be hoping to win the coveted trophy and the lion's share of the whopping €2,500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Last year, a massive field of 3,233 entries assembled in Ireland's capital, and it was Tero Laurila who took home the trophy and €292,685 for first place. He bested Hiep Ninh after a relatively short heads up battle, as the blinds had been reduced from 60 to 20 minutes after the ICM deal was made. Mark Johnston rounded off the top three and took home €232,685. Both Laurila and Ninh are here in Dublin and it would be no surprise to see them attempt to make another deep run in this tournament.
The 2024 tournament set a new record for the Irish Open, absolutely smashing the guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000 by creating a prize pool of €3,152,175. Will the guarantee be broken again this year?

Players get 50,000 chips for their buy in and are allowed to re-enter once per flight, with registration closing after level 10 in each Day 1. Day 1's will feature 14 levels and the survivors of each flight will proceed to Day 2. Players who bag chips in any Day 1 may play a different Day 1 trying to bag a larger stack. Any player who bags chips in multiple Day 1’s will play their largest stack in Day 2 and forfeit any smaller stack.
Levels will run for 45-minutes each and the blinds will start at 100/100 with no ante coming into play until Level 3 where the blinds will be 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. 20-minute breaks are scheduled at the end of levels 3 and 6 with a one hour dinner break commencing at the end of Level 9 followed by a final 20-minute break at the end of Level 12.
