We arrived at the table just as Marvin Rettenmaier three bet from middle position. Mateusz Moolhuizen then moved all in for his last 123,000 in chips which forced the original raiser out. Rettenmaier made the call shortly after and the cards were turned.
Rettenmaier:
Moolhuizen:
The board ran out to see Moolhuizen spike an ace on the flop and improve to trips on the river ensuring a double up to 260,000 in chips.
Michel Dattani raised to 16,000 from middle position and was called by Georgios Karakousis in the cut off. Mike Watson then moved all in for 92,000 which saw Dattani fold his hand. Karakousis then made the call moments later and both players revealed their cards.
Karakousis:
Watson:
Karakousis was on a mini heater after recently doubling up, and was able to out flop Watson when the board ran out to see him win with a pair of queens.
The action folded around to Georgios Karakousis on the button who raised it up to 16,000. Vojtech Ruzicka was on the big blind and moved all in for 291,000, putting the pressure back on his opponent. Karakousis thought for a moment before making the call as both players then tabled their cards.
Karakousis:
Ruzicka:
The board ran out to see Karakousis spike a higher pair on the flop and two pair on the turn to secure a much needed double up.
Igor Yaroshevskyy raised to 16,000 from middle position before Ioannis Apostolidis moved all in for 140,000 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, and after asking for a count, Yaroshevskyy made the call.
Yaroshevskyy:
Apostolidis:
The board ran out to see Apostolidis hold with his pair as he doubled up to 300,000 in chips.
Joao Vieira opened to 16,000 from early position and Oliver Price limped the button for 8,000. That wasn't allowed of course, but Price hadn't seen the raise in front of him. He was forced to call the raise and Ankush Mandavia in the big blind gave it some thoughts. Mandavia made the call as well.
Mandavia checked to Vieira who c-bet 23,000. Price instantly folded but Mandavia moved all in for 90,000 total just as quick. Vieira asked for a count, thought about it for a good two minutes, before eventually calling with . Mandavia showed for top pair.
Both the turn and river were black cards, but no clubs: and . Double up for Mandavia!
Former Miss Finland, chef extraordinaire, aspiring music artist and world class bluffer Sara Chafak played in the Finnish poker championships here at EPT Prague, and she was kind enough to run us through all the aforementioned adjectives.
While Ole Schemion just got moved to Dan Shak's immediate right, the tournament has gone on break. The players and our coverage will resume in 75 minutes.
For the fourth episode of the Remko Report, host Remko Rinkema talks with former professional poker player and aspiring "rich fish" Terrence Chan about the early days of PokerStars and both the struggles and eventual closure of Ultimate Gaming.
You remember when you just started out playing poker? The times where there was always that one guy at the table who just always showed you a bluff when you folded and always showed you the nuts when you called? That guy that was just ahead of you one little step, that annoying guy!
Well, in this event full of highly skilled poker players, Ole Schemion is exactly that guy.
Just now we saw Amir Mozaffarian check from the small blind on a board. Ole Schemion in the big blind, hiding behind a 30-high wall full of 5,000 and 1,000 chips, had 77,500 in front of him and Mozaffarian with a total stack of 175,000 was thinking about it. He thought for quite a bit before eventually releasing his hand into the muck.
Schemion sighed, just like he did many times before, joking like he was happy his opponent folded. Just like that guy back when we started playing always used to do.
Schemion smiled and said "One time" before rolling over for absolutely nothing.
