Yan Dion and his good pal, Jonanthan Duhamel, shared a look before the bubble that suggested they might not make it into the money. They did though and Dion has doubled post bubble.
Chris Wynants raised and called after the Canadian shoved for 34,000.
Wynants:
Duhamel:
The board ran .
"Nice hand," said Wynants as he handed over the chips.
Antonin Duda has been enjoying a very healthy two levels of play and built his stack to almost 400,000 until the bubble. Once all players were in the money, Henri Kasper moved all in for 42,000 and Duda flat-called with .
Kasper had two over cards with and got there on a board of .
In the very last hand before the break, Dan Smith defended out of the blinds to see a flop of . The full action from there is unknown, but the turn and river completed the board. Smith ended up all in and at risk with against the of Sergio Aido and went to the cashier to collect his min-cash of €9,120.
As we are now in the money players are going to get knocked out in rapid succession, and Connor Drinan jump-started it all by being the first player to cash in 127th place.
Drinan moved all in under the gun for just a few big blinds and the action folded around to Bjorn Wiesler in the big blind. Wiesler called and the showdown went as following.
Wiesler:
Drinan:
The board ran out and Drinan was knocked out by his opponent hitting trips.
Bulgarian Atanas Kavrakov, winner of the WPT National Cyprus in January this year, has been eliminated from the tournament in 128th position. Already severely short stacked, he shoved his last 36,000 (nine big blinds) from under the gun plus one. His neighbor Bruno Volkmann from Brazil made the call and action quickly folded around.
Kavrakov immediately showed his but wasn't suppose to, the cards had to stay closed until action on all tables was done. It took some time before the show continued, only after a five minutes Kavrakov found out he was up against .
The flop came and Kavrakov added a flush draw to his aces and kings outs. What started out as a 55/45 situation in favor of Volkmann, was now turned around with Kavrakov taking a small lead.
The Bulgarian all in player still needed to hit though, and would fail to do so. The on the turn was a blank, and so was the on the river. Volkmann made a full house and Kavrakov was left with nothing but a busted flush draw and busted dreams.
With the departure of Atanas Kavrakov the remaining 127 players are all in the money, guaranteed €9,120.
Javier Gomez Zapatero three-bet to 30,000 out of the small blind and initial raiser Govert Metaal called from the button. The Spaniard fired the flop for 36,500 and received a call before the then saw a bigger bet worth 80,000 on the turn. Metaal gave it some thought and mucked.
Up on the feature table, former World Series of Poker November Niner Sylvain Loosli got his last 110,000 all in preflop and was at risk against Koray Aldemir.
Aldemir:
Loosli:
Loosli was in dire straits and looked as if he'd be the bubble boy, but then the flop came down to deliver him a set. However, Aldemir did pick up a flush draw. The turn was safe for Loosli, and so was the river. Loosli scored the double and successfully avoided becoming the EPT Malta bubble boy — at least for now!
Ten-four off suit is a powerful hand most of the time, just ask Jake Cody. The hand was named after the Team PokerStars Pro used it to win a huge pot en route to taking down EPT Deauville in season six.
Diego Zeiter tried to use to bluff Fredrik Andersson off a hand but it didn't work. The board read and Andersson check-called 13,000, 18,000 and snap called all in for 54,000 with for a set. Zeiter was forced to open .
