Blain Maintains

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Dermot Blain
Dermot Blain

Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree opened the action for 1,000 and found some customers in the player in the small blind and Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Dermot Blain in the big blind.

The flop {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts} was checked around and when the {2-Diamonds} appeared on the turn the player in the small blind led out for 1,000. Blain made the call and Boeree left them to it. The river card was the {q-Spades} and when it was checked to him Blain bet 2,400. This prompted his opponent to sit up in his seat, jolted out of the lethargy the heat in the tournament room seemed to have lulled him into. Unable to find a reason to call he mucked his cards and Blain added the chips to his modest stack.

There are rarely fireworks when Blain is in a pot, especially at this stage at the tournament, but he always seems to find a way to keep his head above water and tease out little pots here and there when needed.

The Champ is Here!

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Last year's winner, Robin Ylitalo, has just arrived to buy into the main event. The Swede hopped on a late flight this afternoon and will able to get in around half an hour of play before the dinner break.

Ladouceur Stays Active

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

PokerStars Team Online Marc-Ande Ladouceur has been staying active, as we just caught back-to-back hands with him.

On the first hand the board read {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Ladouceur checked to Ignat Liviu, who was seated to his immediate left, and bet 2,600. A player in position called and Ladouceur did so as well.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and both Ladouceur and Liviu check-folded to a bet of 7,000.

On the very next hand the same player raised, this time to 1,000 and Ladouceur was his only called from the button. The flop rolled out {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Ladouceur called a bet of 1,550. When the turn brought the {6-Spades} Ladouceur was faced with a bet of 2,550 and he opted to raise it up to 6,200.

Ladouceur's opponent folded and the French Canadian pro raked in a decent-sized pot.

Nitsche Survives On Fumes

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche has been nursing his sub six big blind stack for a while now with the antes and blinds eroding his chances of survival further and further. He was seemingly powerless to do anything as it rarely folded to him without some action and he couldn’t find a hand to make a stand with. A short while ago though he was all in and it folded to the player in the blig blind who looked him up, calling Nitsche’s bet of 1,950.

“Ace-jack.” Nitsche announced turning over {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and saw he was facing {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. The flop rode to the rescue though with a final board reading {9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} to double him up to ten big blinds.

Jorgensen Back Down to Starting Stack

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Asif Rajah check-called a bet of 6,000 on the turn of a {J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board against Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen to see the {7-Clubs} on the river where both players checked. Rajah showed {J-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Jorgensen nodded and mucked his hand.

Soulier Clawing Back

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Fabrice Soulier opened to 1,000 from middle position and received a single call from Robert Kuhn in the big blind. The flop came down {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Kuhn checked to the raiser. Soulier rapped the table in reply and the {8-Clubs} touched the felt on fourth street.

Kuhn took this opportunity to fire 1,600 at the pot. Soulier stuck around and the {2-Spades} finished off the community cards. Kuhn thought for a moment before reaching for chips. He moved 2,700 past the betting line only to have Soulier fling out a call.

Kuhn instantly tossed his hand into the muck and Soulier was pushed the pot without revealing his cards. He's now clawing back toward the starting stack with about 22,000 to his name.

Long Live Metaal

Nível 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal may be down on his starting stack but he still has a lot of fight in him and isn’t the sort of player to sit back and let the action happen around him.

Metaal opened under the gun for 750 and got respectful folds from the table until it got to the player in the big blind who called. The flop {5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} was checked by both players and on the turn card {j-Diamonds} Metaal saw his opponent check-call a bet of 1,100.

The river card was the {9-Hearts} and it was checked to Metaal who put out a bet of 2,250 with just over 10,000 behind. The bet ended any resistance and gave a much needed boost to the Dutch veteran.
