Cruel Exit For Vamplew

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
David Vamplew
David Vamplew

Zoltan Purak opened for 1,700 and was called on the button by David Vamplew and the player in the small blind. Three to a flop of {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades} and a check from the small blind saw Purak continue for 2,800. Vamplew raised him to 7,500 and with the small blind out of the way Purak elected to call.

The turn card was the {9-Spades} and with Purak checking Vamplew took his time before betting 10,000. Purak put out the calling chips and the final card in the middle was the {8-Diamonds}. A final check from Purak who had Vamplew covered saw Vampew declare, “All in.” Purak threw out some chips to indicate a call.

Vamplew turned over {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for the ace high flush, Purak quietly tabled {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for the straight flush. All Vamplew could do was emit a sigh, pack up and leave the room.

No More Tables in the Casino

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

The tournament started today with several Main Event tables on the main casino floor in the cash game pit. Those 11 tables have all been broken by now, and so have some in Tournament Room B. The tournament is getting closer to being concentrated in one giant room.

Akkari Doubles With Kings

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Under the gun opened to 2,000, and from the small blind it was Brazilian Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari who made it 4,100. The initial raiser four bet to 8,300, and called Akkari's 22,000 shove.

Akkari showed {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, and had to beat {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} to win. For a second, that looked like a difficult job as the {4-Spades} was in the window. Fortunately for Akkari, the {K-Spades} and {3-Spades} followed.

The {10-Clubs} on the turn and {7-Diamonds} on the river were of no importance, and Akkari doubled moments before his table was broken.

Tempers Fray on Table 57

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Diego Gomez
Diego Gomez

The temperature in the main tournament area is rising and already there's been a few tense moments. None more so than over on Table 57 where the anger spilled over after a big hand.

The hand in question had seen Henri Ojala move all in preflop with Filippo Bisciglia having made a minimum raise behind him. In the small blind Jakob Karlsson, who previously came second at the EPT San Remo won by Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree, pushed all in behind him. Apparently there was an issue with Diego Gomez in the big blind, but we'll deal with that after the hand. Bisciglia tanked for several minues and had the clock called on him before he finally folded with barely a few seconds left. "Queens," he whispered to the player to his left.

Karlsson: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Ojala: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The board came {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Karlsson scooped the pot and Bisciglia was satisified with his fold. At this point, Clyde Tjauw Foe took issue with what Diego Gomez had done in the big blind when action was on the Spaniard.

Gomez claimed he was putting out change for the dealer, Foe was not impressed saying, "You put out two chips and that's a call!"

Gomez, "I am a gentleman!"

Foe, "You're not a gentleman."

The voices of the pair got louder and louder as they began to shout at each other about respect and neither showed any signs of backing down. Tournament director Toby Stone came by and told the two they had to stop now otherwise security would be throwing both of them out. This had the desired effect, however, to make sure, there is now a seven-foot security guard on permanent watch next to their table.

Kuiper Doubles Through Julius

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Bart Kuiper just got his remaining 8,000 chips in with {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} against Kyle Julius' {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. "Ok, not live" he said after the cards went face up to the middle of the table.

Kuiper flopped good with {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}, but the {K-Hearts} on the turn brought some tension. The {5-Diamonds} was red but no heart, and Kuiper doubled.

"Always the sweat" laughed Kuiper, who's wearing a shirt with the cryptic Dutch message "Ok. Doei!", which translates as "Ok. Bye!"

One In the Bunch

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Daniel Burcarovsky limped under the gun and Daniel Negreanu put out a chip to call. Action folded round to Emil Mattsson on the button who raised it up to 3,200.

“There’s always one in the bunch.” Negreanu said about the raise as the blinds folded, but then Burcarovsky sprang a raise of his own making it 6,500. “You got it for that one.” cackled Negreanu in delight at Mattsson as he folded his own cards. That wasn’t the end of it though as Mattsson moved all in for just over 30,000 and Burcarovsky snapped him off.

Burcarovsky showed {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} with Mattsson at risk tabling {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. The board ran out {8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and Mattsson spiked to double and survive.
