Steve O'Dwyer opened to 11,000 from the cutoff and was called by Nikita Kuznetcov on the button. Niklas Astedt shoved for 100,000 from the small blind, which got a quick fold from O'Dwyer and a call from Kuznetcov after a lengthy tank.
Niklas Astedt: A♣K♣
Nikita Kuznetcov: A♥10♦
Astedt was in good shape to double with his dominating ace, but the 2♥7♥10♠Q♥K♥ runout left Kuznetcov best with the nut flush and Astedt was sent to the rail.
Thomas Santerne opened to 8,000 from under the gun and Morten Klein shoved for his last 27,000 from the cutoff. Action then folded to Enrico Camosci in the big blind, who made a four-bet. Santerne let his hand go and a showdown was held.
Morten Klein: K♠K♥
Enrico Camosci: A♥A♦
It was a cooler for Klein, and the 8♠2♥J♦5♦7♣ runout kept Camosci's rockets best to eliminate Klein just before break.
Jon Kyte, who had led the tournament from Day 3, entered the finale with 229 big blinds and a historic chip lead, one that was assumed to be unassailable. Padraig O'Neill had other ideas and was unexpectedly awarded the final EPT Trophy of the 2023 season after overcoming the Norwegian in heads-up play.
Known affectionately as "Smidge" in the Irish poker community, O'Neill came into the day as the shortest stack and turned his 12 big blinds into a €1,030,000 payout. With the victory, he became Ireland's second-ever EPT Main Event champion, 11 years after Steve O'Dwyer reigned supreme in Monte Carlo.

Both players checked on the Q♣4♠6♦ flop and Klein led out for 10,000 on the 7♣ turn. Santerne called.
The 6♣ completed the board and Klein fired 34,000 into the middle, sending Santerne deep into the tank.
Santerne eventually tossed in a call after using a couple of time banks and Klein turned over 10♠9♥. Santerne tabled A♦3♦ and dragged the pot with his ace-high.
