Tom Middleton made it 45,000 to go on the button and then faced the shove by Youssef Zereg for 375,000 in the small blind. Middleton, one of the former EPT Main Event champions in the field, asked for a count and called.
Youssef Zereg: A♥K♣
Tom Middleton: 5♥5♣
The A♣9♣4♠K♥10♣ board improved Zereg to two pair and Middleton lost more than one fifth of his stack.
Matthias Lipp raised to 45,000 in early position and Gregory Fournier called in the cutoff. Byron Kaverman then three-bet to 205,000 in the big blind and only Fournier called.
The flop came 4♣K♦6♥ and Kaverman continued for 110,000. Fournier called to see the J♠ turn, where Kaverman bet another 185,000.
Fournier again called and the 3♣ fell on the river. Kaverman then bet 475,000, sending Fournier deep into the tank.
Fournier burned through five time banks as he considered the decision for several minutes before calling. Kaverman turned over A♠5♣ for a bluff, while Fournier showed 10♣10♦ to win the massive pot.
At the same time at another table, Ihar Soika and Kostadin Kostadinov went heads-up in a blind versus blind battle to a board of K♥7♣6♣8♦. Soika then bet 40,000, Kostadinov raised to 120,000, and Soika called.
The river was the Q♦ and Kostadinov bet 225,000, enough to put Soika all in. Soika tanked for more than a minute before calling as Kostadinov turned over K♠2♥ for a pair of kings. Soika tossed 9♥6♦ into the muck before heading for the payout desk.
Panagiotis Mavritsakis opened to 45,000 from early position and saw Terry Vlastos and Alessandro Minasi call from the blinds. Mavritsakis continued for 50,000 on the K♥4♦3♥ flop and only Minasi called. The 5♦ turn checked through to the 9♦ river, and Minasi led out for 90,000. Mavritsakis peaked at his cards and announced a raise to 380,000.
"Call," said Minasi before Mavritsakis had finished putting his chips into the middle. Mavritsakis took one last look at his cards and mucked, allowing Minasi to take the pot without showing his hole cards.
The following hand, Mavritsakis opened to 45,000 and called Lorenzo Arduini's cutoff raise to 135,000.
The A♦10♠9♦ flop checked through to the 9♠ turn and Mavritsakis check-called a bet of 320,000.
After using a time bank, Mavritsakis checked on the 5♦ river. Arduini used a time bank of his own before firing out 1,000,000. Mavritsakis immediately threw all six of his time banks into the middle but folded after using up two of them.
After the hand played out, Mavritsakis was instructed to move table.
Jamil Wakil raised to 45,000 from the hijack and Sindre Hansen made the call in the big blind. Wakil then continued for 25,000 on the 10♥10♣7♥ flop, which Hansen check-raised to 65,000.
Wakil tossed in a call and called Hansen's bet of 65,000 on the 9♥ turn as well. Hansen then jammed all in on the 2♣ river, covering Wakil's stack of 220,000.
Wakil thought about it for a bit but ultimately made the fold, preserving his stack of 11 big blinds.
Peter Jorgne raised to 40,000 with the A♠A♦ first to act and Tom Middleton three-bet to 130,000 with the K♥Q♦ in the cutoff. Once Jorgne four-bet, Middleton snap-folded.
One hand later, Jorgne defended the 4♣2♣ against an under-the-gun min-raise by Leo Worthington-Leese and floated the K♠Q♣3♦ flop by check-calling for 25,000. They checked the 8♣ turn and the 6♠ fell on the river.
Jorgne glanced at the short stack of his table neighbour and bet 300,000, Worthington-Leese called all-in for 190,000 to double with the A♠Q♠.
Action folded to Anatoly Korochenskiy in the small blind who moved all in for his last 200,000. Levente Szabo called in the big blind.
Anatoly Korochenskiy: K♥10♠
Levente Szabo: A♦Q♦
Korochenskiy needed to improve heading to the 7♣5♥9♦ flop, which kept Szabo's ace-high in the lead. The turn was the 2♠, but the 10♥ fell on the river and Korochenskiy made a pair to double up.
Yevhen Dzhura was balanced away from the feature table to then return to the very same seat and open-shoved the 4♦4♣ from an early position. Youssef Zereg rejammed with the K♥K♣ in the next seat to isolate, Farid Jattin was among those to fold A♥J♥.
The board ran out 10♦10♥5♥J♣9♦ and that spelled the end for Dzhura.
Krasimir Neychev raised to 40,000 in middle position, Jamil Wakil shoved for 165,000 on the button, and Neychev called.
Jamil Wakil: A♦J♦
Krasimir Neychev: 9♣9♥
Wakil was racing for his tournament life but couldn't improve on the 7♦K♣7♥Q♠Q♣ board as Neychev took the pot with his two pair to send Wakil to the rail.
David Kaufmann raised to 40,000 on the button and received a call from Kostadin Kostadinov in the big blind.
The Q♥9♦4♠ flop saw Kaufmann continue for 30,000 after a check from Kostadinobv. A raise to 100,000 then followed from the Bulgarian, forcing a fold from Kaufmann and awarding him the pot.
Byron Kaverman raised to 40,000 from middle position and the action folded to Mathias Siljander in the big blind, who put Kaverman all in for 350,000 chips.
Kaverman quickly called and a showdown was ordered.
Byron Kaverman: Q♥Q♣
Mathias Siljander: A♥K♣
The 8♥10♠J♠ gave Siljander some extra outs and the A♣ turn saw him make top pair to take the lead. He faded Kaverman's straight draw on the 5♠ river and raked in the pot while Kaverman headed to the exit.
On other tables Atanas Pavlov was also eliminated from the Main Event.
