Barbero Fires at Thorel

Heads-up on a flop of 366, Nacho Barbero bet 5,000 from the button and Jean-Noel Thorel called in the big blind.

The turn was the 9 and Barbero bet 15,000. Thorel again called to see the 10 river, where Barbero fired out 40,000. Thorel leaned back in his chair and tanked for a moment before folding.

"Show the queen-seven," Sean Winter said to Barbero.

"I don't have that," Barbero replied, returning his cards face down.

Korzinin Picks of Watson with Ace-High

The 7 turn checked through to the 7 on the river. Watson took the lead for 10,000 and Korzinin made a swift call. Watson tabled KQ for king high, while Korzinin claimed this pot with AQ for ace high.

Thorel Gives Up Against Mokri's Aces

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 3,500 on the button, Kayhan Mokri three-bet to 17,000 in the big blind, and Thorel called.

Mokri checked the 956 flop and Thorel bet 10,000. Mokri called and the 3 fell on the turn. Thorel then bet another 35,000 and Mokri again called.

Mokri checked once more on the 2 river and Thorel instantly tossed his cards away. Mokri showed him AA as he took the pot.

Barbero Limps to Victory

Nacho Barbero limped in from the small blind, Steve O'Dwyer raised to 6,500 in the big blind, and Barbero called.

The flop came Q96 and O'Dwyer bet 7,500. Barbero called and they both checked down the 8 turn.

Barbero led out for 12,000 on the 7 river and O'Dwyer snap-folded.

Last year at in Barcelona, France's Simon Wiciak defeated João Sydenstricker heads-up to win the EPT Main Event for €1,134,375.

Wiciak bested the field of 2,120 runners for the golden trophy, his first major live poker title, and the career-best seven-figure score.

The Frenchman struck a three-handed deal with Sydenstricker and Britain's Carl Shaw that flattened the payouts, and the trio played on for the trophy and an additional €108,975 in prize money.
