Dia 1a Iniciado
Welcome to the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague here at Hilton Prague, where Day 1a (the first of six starting flights) of the €1,100 Eureka Main Event is set to begin at 2 p.m. local time.
Last December, the event drew a massive 4,017-entry field across four starting flights with Pieter Theelen emerging victorious after defeating Anton Suarez heads-up to take home his first EPT title at the €496,760 first-place prize. Given the two additional starting flights this time around, we expect there's a good chance for a record-setting field to participate.
Place | Player | Country | Prize (in EUR) | |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Pieter Theelen | Netherlands | €496,760 | |
2 | Anton Suarez | Sweden | €306,770 | |
3 | Leonardo Romeo | Italy | €219,120 | |
4 | Jack Sinclair | United Kingdom | €168,560 | |
5 | Elias Suhonen | Finland | €129,650 | |
6 | Quentin Guivarch | France | €99,720 | |
7 | Silius Moll | Norway | €76,700 | |
8 | Waldemar Starostin | Germany | €59,000 | |
9 | Marko Martinkovic | Croatia | €45,390 |
Players will begin with 30,000 in chips and blinds will start at 100/100 with a 100 big-blind ante in Level 1. Each level will last 40 minutes and players are allowed one reentry per flight. Breaks of 20 minutes will be held after every three levels and an extended 75-minute break will take place at the end of Level 8. Late registration will close at the end of Level 10 and play will end for the day once the field is reduced to 15% of the total entries. All players who survive into Day 2 are guaranteed to make the money (the prize pool will be announced at the start of Day 2).
Day 1b will also take place today beginning at 7 p.m. local time with a similar structure, except levels will last 30 minutes each and there will be no extended breaks.
Be sure to stick with PokerNews as we bring you all the action from Hilton Prague in what could be a historic Eureka Main Event. For ongoing coverage of other events, check out our EPT Prague Live-Reporting Hub.

Lucjan Jankowski kicked off the action with a raise to 300 from the cutoff. Pascal Frezza then made the call from the button before Jari Mahonen bumped it up to 1,400 from the small blind. The action folded back to Jankowski, who put in the call while Frezza got out of the way.
The flop fell 3♥10♠10♦ and Mahonen checked to Jankowski, who made a bet of 2,000 chips, which Mahonen called. Both players then checked on the 4♠ turn before the K♦ river completed the board.
Mahonen checked once more, after which Jankowski fired a big bet of 7,000. Mahonen quickly called, but mucked his cards once he saw the A♥K♥ of his opponent, who had rivered two pair.
"I hate playing jacks," Mahonen added after the hand.

Tekeshi Takahashi opened to 300 from the cutoff and was called by Mokokatsu Uhara in the small blind and Juha Helppi in the big blind.
Everyone checked on the 3♠A♣5♥ flop and then Helppi bet 400 on the 3♣ turn. Only Helppi called.
Both players went back to checking on the Q♦ river and Helppi tabled 10♦5♦ for fives and threes. Takahashi turned over A♦9♦ for a better two pair and collected the pot.

In a modest pot of 2,000 chips, Vanni Losi led out for 500 chips from the small blind on a board of 5♣J♥6♦4♣. Fellow Italian Mauro Fungo called from the button before both players checked down the 10♥ river.
Losi showed K♠J♦ and his top pair was good enough to rake in an early pot.
On another table, a more sizable pot of 11,500 chips had been gathered when the completed board of 10♣3♠J♦A♦K♠ laid on the table.
Eljano Hysaj then added another 7,200 to that from the button, but Jong-Hak Lim quickly check-folded from under the gun, awarding the pot to Hysaj.

Benjamin Millian already had a raise of 1,300 in front of him from early position and was reraised to 2,800 by Spyridon Lamprou in the cutoff. Millian called.
Millian checked to Lamprou on the J♦8♠J♥ flop and he continued for 2,100. Millian then check-raised to 7,000 and Lamprou called.
Millian shoved for 17,500 after the 8♥ turn double-paired the board, sending Lamprou deep into the tank. Lamprou eventually decided to call to put Millian at risk.
Benjamin Millian: A♣J♠
Spyridon Lamprou: K♠K♥
Lamprou was drawing slim against Millian's full house and the 7♦ river bricked out for Lamprou, who was left with just 5,000 following the hand.
