Greenwood Gets Short; Doubles Through Heath

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Samuel Greenwood
Samuel Greenwood

On a heads-up turn of {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, Chris Brewer bet 12,000 out of the big blind. Sam Greenwood called from under the gun with a short stack behind. Brewer then bet the {5-Hearts} river for 100,000 and Greenwood reluctantly folded.

Shortly after, Brewer opened to 5,000 on the button and Greenwood called out of the small blind. Ben Heath moved all-in for 51,000 out of the big blind and Brewer folded. Greenwood mulled it over for more than a minute and called it off.

Sam Greenwood: {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Ben Heath: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{j-Hearts} board improved Greenwood to two pair and he traded the role of shortest stack with Heath.

Astedt Spikes the Turn to Double Through Adams

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Timothy Adams raised it up from the cutoff and Niklas Astedt shipped all in for 57,500 in the small blind. Adams wasted little time before making the call and the cards were face up.

Niklas Astedt: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Timothy Adams: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The flop fell {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Adams still held a dominating lead. However, the {9-Diamonds} on the turn put Astedt in charge with a pair of nines and he held on through the {6-Spades} river.

Ketzer and Mokri Chip Up

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Tom Orpaz squeezed to 40,000 out of the small blind only for Felipe Ketzer to then reraise to 172,000 with a few chips behind. Orpaz started some table chat, baiting his opponent to get a reaction after claiming to have had pocket jacks which he later dismissed after his fold.

The action didn't slow down on the table as Orpen Kisacikoglu raised to 5,500 on the cutoff. Orpaz called on the button and Kayhan Mokri three-bet to 31,000 in the small blind. As Kisacikoglu eyeballed the stack of Mokri, the Norwegian replied "I have more" and Kisacikoglu then called with Orpaz folding.

Both checked the {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop and the {j-Diamonds} turn brought a bet worth 54,500 by Mokri, resulting in a call by Kisacikoglu. Both checked again the {k-Clubs} on the river and Mokri's {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} was best as Kisacikoglu double-checked his cards and flashed the {j-Spades} into the muck.

O'Dwyer Chips Up Against Heath

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Picking up the action on the {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} turn with 33,500 in the middle, Ben Heath checked his option over to Steve O'Dwyer who bet 21,000. Heath came along to then check the {a-Hearts} on the river. O'Dwyer checked behind and Heath briefly flashed his cards for a pair of sevens, but that was no good against the {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} of O'Dwyer.

Tiny Pot for Garagnani

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Pedro Garagnani raised to 5,500 from an early position and Ren Lin was in no mood of folding out of the big blind. There was no action at all thereafter with the {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, {10-Clubs} turn and {3-Clubs} river all getting checked through.

Lin tabled the {j-Spades}{2-Spades} for jack-high and Garagnani had that beat holding {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Both players are just above the starting stack and separated by a single big blind only.

Mattsson Fills Up in the Big Blind

Nível 6 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Niklas Astedt limped in from the small blind and Simon Mattsson checked his big blind. The flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Astedt check-called a bet of 2,500 from Mattsson.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and both players checked to the {4-Clubs} on the river. Astedt checked again and Mattsson tossed in a bet of 7,500. Astedt quickly called and Mattsson turned over {10-Spades}{6-Hearts} for a full house.

David Kaye
David Kaye

American David Kaye spoke with PokerNews about his journey from a small-town Michigan poker player to becoming a poker player and PokerStars ambassador.

He also gave insight into the current poker scene in Michigan, and the potential of online poker in the state.
“We know the end goal isn't just two states,” he said. “Two states is great, but this is just the groundwork to get where we really want to be when we have all the states under one umbrella — or as many states as possible.”

Find out what Kaye had to say about the bright future of PokerStars US here!
