Grafton Starts a Bluff

Nível 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

The action was caught on the {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop when Sam Grafton had just check-raised Thi Xao Nguyen's unidentified flop bet to 14,000 chips. Nguyen called and the two saw the {9-Diamonds} turn.

Grafton slowed down and checked, leading to Nguyen betting 16,000. Grafton did not have to think long before he called. The river brought the {k-Spades} and both players checked.

Grafton was first to show and tabled {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. The turned pair was good enough, because Nguyen threw her hand into the muck. ''I was starting a bluff!,'' Grafton remarked while he stacked his newly acquired chips.

Shylko Out After Running Into Flush

Nível 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Aliaksandr Shylko
Aliaksandr Shylko

Aliaksandr Shylko raised to 4,200 from the small blind and Thomas Santerne defended out of the big blind.

Shylko continued for 2,200 on the {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop and Santerne called. Shylko then bet 17,000 on the {q-Hearts} turn with less than that in the pot and Santerne called.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board and Shylko used a time bank before betting 35,000 and leaving himself just 1,600 behind. Santerne snap-called. Shylko showed {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for a set, but it was no good against the rivered flush of Santerne with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} to leave Shylko with crumbs.

A few hands later, Shylko jammed for just more than one big blind and Juha Helppi and Pieter Aerts both called out of the blinds.

Helppi and Aerts both checked on the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop as well as the {6-Hearts} turn. Helppi checked again on the {5-Spades} river and folded when Aerts bet 2,500. Shylko tabled {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for an underpair and couldn't survive as Aerts showed {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a pair of jacks to send the 2023 PokerStars Players Championship winner to the rail.

Ferreira Pais Six-Bets and Doubles

Nível 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Mauricio Ferreira Pais

Conor Beresford raised to 2,000 from under the gun, before Jimmy Saft made it 6,200 from middle position. Mauricio Ferreira Pais was on the button and came in with a cold four-bet to 15,000.

Beresford got more than he bargained for and quickly mucked his hand before Saft put in the five-bet to 40,000. Ferreira Pais used two time bank extensions before announcing his all-in, worth 94,300. No count was needed, however, as Saft snap-called.

Mauricio Ferreira Pais: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Jimmy Saft: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Saft let out an expletive, condemning the classic cooler. It would not help him as the board ran out {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, forcing him to give away many of his hard-earned chips to Ferreira Pais.

Michalak's River Bet Gets Through

Nível 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jules Dickerson raised to 2,000 from under the gun and Jakub Michalak called on the button. Kamel Tamer also called in the small blind. The flop came {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades} and all three players checked.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}. Tamer checked, Dickerson bet 3,500 and Michalak called. The river was the {7-Hearts}. Dickerson checked, Michalak bet 11,000 and Dickerson folded.

O'Dwyer Flops Nuts in Five-Bet Pot

Nível 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Tauan De Oliveira Naves opened the action with a raise to 2,300 from the cutoff. Imad Derwiche responded with a three-bet to 5,400 from the button, after which big blind Steve O'Dwyer put in the four-bet to 14,000. De Oliveira Naves quickly folded to so many raises, and Derwiche engaged in some speech play.

''You want to win your money back?'' asked Derwiche to an ever-silent O'Dwyer. After waiting for an answer that never came, Derwiche put in the five-bet to 35,000, which O'Dwyer quickly called.

The flop fell {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Derwiche protected his eyes so he could not see it until it was his turn. When O'Dwyer checked, Derwiche rapidly moved all in for roughly 65,000 chips. O'Dwyer snap-called, covering his opponent, declaring: ''I have the nuts.''

Imad Derwiche: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Steve O'Dwyer: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

O'Dwyer was not lying, as he indeed flopped the nut flush. The turn {2-Clubs} spelled the end for Derwiche, and as the {q-Clubs} river fell, he left the tournament area frustratedly but had enough sportsmanship to give his opponent a fist bump beforehand.
