Fadda (Eventually) Finds a Fold

When the action was caught, Antonio Fadda in the hijack had been in the tank for several minutes already. He had bet 6,400 on 2♦3♦9♥ in a pot of roughly 9,000 chips. Attila Zab was in the cutoff and raised that bet to 13,200.

After another minute or so passed, their table mates got irritated and called the clock. The floorman gave Fadda another 30 seconds to think about his decision and he used that time to come to the conclusion that a fold was the best option. He threw his 10♦10♥ face-up in the muck, while Zab claimed to have a set but did not show his cards.

In the meantime, the clock had already reached the break, causing multiple players to complain that they could not play another hand in the old level.

Sapronenko Flops Quads

Jevgenijs Sapronenko and Ikam Benyeffou were battling over a pot of 10,000. Sapronenko only had 7,100 chips behind on a completed board of 10♠10♦4♣Q♥5♥ and decided to wager them all as he requested an all-in triangle from the dealer. Benyeffou thought about it for a bit before he put in two T-5,000 chips for a call.

Sapronenko showed that he had the two remaining tens in his hand: 10♣10♥. ''That should be enough,'' someone else joked at the table, as Benyeffou puzzingly mucked his hand.

A Couple of Hands from the Outer Tables

Day 1b has grown big enough that it now takes up space in two separate rooms in the venue. PokerNews ventured to the other room to catch some action from the outer tables as well.

In the first hand that was observed, there was a board of Q♠8♣10♦K♥ with around 9,000 in the middle. Miha Travnik was in the hijack and checked and so did his opponent, Virgile Turchi, from the cutoff. The 2♦ river fell and Travnik checked again. Turchi put out a bet of 3,000 and that spelled the end of the hand as Travnik quickly folded.

On another table, Lukasz Szymon Grossman opened the action from under the gun with a raise to 1,200 and received a call from Blaz Zerjav on the button. Jimmy Kebe was in the big blind and made it 5,000 to go, which Grossman called. However, Zerjav had a surprise in store for his foes, as he put in the back-raise four-bet to 12,000.

Both Kebe and Grossman had seen enough and laid their hands down.

With over 1,000 entrants in both Day 1's combined, this edition of the FPS €2,200 High Roller has blown the previous attendance record of 910 for this event out of the water already. Late registration is still open for both Day 1a and Day 1b, and with unlimited reentries, there is no telling just how huge this event will get.

Ghassan Goes for the Hero Call

The river had already arrived when the action was caught. There were 16,000 chips in the middle and the board read 6♠7♥3♥10♦J♥. Ibrahim Ghassan sat in the under-the-gun position and checked to David Sitbon in the next seat over. Sitbon fired out a big bet of 12,000 and Ghassan went into the tank.

Eventually, he came up with a call, leading Sitbon to shake his head and reluctantly show the table the failed bluff with A♦9♦. Ghassan showed his K♠10♠ for nothing but a middle pair on this straighty, flushy board. A formidable call to rake in this big pot in the early levels of the tournament.
