Ding Catches Ponakovs

Nível 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Biao Ding opened to 13,000 from middle position before Aleksejs Ponakovs three-bet to 33,000 from the cutoff.

The action folded back to Ding, who let his shot clock run out before putting in a four-bet to 75,000. Ponakovs, on the other hand, did not have to think long before making his decision and instantly mucked his cards, forfeiting the pot to Ding.

Sam Grafton and Sam Greenwood had both bought in at the start of the day and were battling over a pot worth 37,000 chips. The flop was already dealt and read 358. Grafton checked out of the big blind before Greenwood bet out 30,000 on the button. Grafton made the call and the subsequent 9 turn was checked through.

The action continues today at the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus with Day 2 of the $50,000 EPT Super High Roller at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa.

Paulius Plausinaitis of Lithuania bagged the chip lead last night, finishing with 1,193,000, worth just under 200 big blinds to start the day. He is most closely followed by previous EPT champion Ognyan Dimov of Bulgaria who bagged 1,080,000.
