$25,000 NL Hold'em V Starts Today at 2 p.m.
The fifth $25,000 NL Hold'em Event of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Cyprus at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa is set to get underway today at 2 p.m. local time.
Yesterday, Wednesday, October 18, Maher Nouira almost kept the lead from the beginning to the end of the tournament to win $25,000 NL Hold'em IV. He agreed on a deal during heads-up play with Jules Dickerson, and the two last players out of a field of 24 runners agreed on $180,120* each.

For this second-to-last $25,000 event of the festival, all players will receive 100,000 in chips and the levels will last 30 minutes. There will be a 15-minute break after the first four levels and then one every three levels. Unlimited reentries are allowed during the first ten levels, and late registration will close at the start of Level 11 (after a 60-minute dinner break, around 8:35 p.m.). After the end of late registration, 15% of the field will be paid.
The event will feature a 30-second shot clock. Players will have six time bank cards when they enter the tournament, worth 30 seconds each. Players who are seated at the first hand of every odd level (3, 5, 7, 9...) will receive an extra time bank.

Gha Iakobishvili opened to 2,500 from under the gun, and everybody folded to Sam Greenwood who defended his big blind.
On the flop A♦A♣3♥, Iakobishvili made a continuation bet to 1,000, but Greenwood check-raised to 5,000. "Why do you raise on the flop?," Iakobishvili seemed to say with his hands, while looking at Greenwood.
He quickly called, then both players checked on the turn 10♦. The 9♣ came on the river, and Greenwood bet 12,000.
Iakobishvili called almost immediately with A♥J♦ and scooped the pot, as Greenwood had 5♣4♣.

Iakobishvili and Martirosian Split

Artur Martirosian arrived at the tables moments after the start. And after a few hands with very small pots, he three-bet to 8,500 from the button. Gha Iakobishvili, who opened to 2,500 in the cutoff, called, and both of them discovered the flop 3♣4♦4♥.
Martirosian bet 6,000, and Iakobishvili check-called. But it was the last actions of the hand, as both players checked on the turn 2♦ and the river Q♦.
At the same time, Martirosian with A♠J♥ and Iakobishvili with A♣J♠ announced "Ace-Jack", so they split the pot.

Martirosian called, then check-called a 6,000 bet by Mateos on the flop 9♥A♦3♠. The turn 6♥ didn't change anything, as both players checked.
But on the river 2♥, Martirosian took the lead and bet 25,000. Mateos snap-called, but had to muck his cards as Martirosian had A♠Q♠ for top pair.

Gha Iakobishvili opened to 3,000 under the gun, and Adrien Mateos in the cutoff three-bet to 9,000. But in the small blind, Aleksejs Ponakovs threw a time bank card in front of him before moving all in for 108,000 chips. Iakobishvili and Mateos folded.
On the next hand, Aleksejs Ponakovs raised to 4,000 from the button, and called when Iakobishvili three-bet to 16,000 from the big blind.
Iakobishvili made a continuation-bet to 12,000 on the flop 3♥8♦9♦ and Ponakovs called. But on the turn 4♥, Ponakovs struggled to make a decision after Iakobishvili shoved for 57,500 chips. Ponakovs eventually folded.
