The PokerStars European Poker Tour Cyprus at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa continues today, October 14, with the $25,000 NL Hold'em II at 12:30 p.m. Today’s event is the second of five $25,000 being held at EPT Cyprus, the first of which concluded last night.
Yesterday’s $25,000 NL Hold'em I tournament attracted a total of 59 entries. It was Alexander Tkatschew who eventually lifted the trophy and claimed the $432,090 first-place prize.

It is highly anticipated that these finalists and many more familiar faces will resurface for today’s high-stakes event.
The high rollers to find their way to the felt today will be met with a starting stack of 100,000 chips and will play through 30-minute levels until a winner is crowned. Those unfortunate enough to bust will be allowed to re-enter for an unlimited amount of time, with registration closing at the end of Level 10. Approximately 15% of the field will be paid.
A shot clock will be implemented from the start of the event, with all players being given a total of six time bank chips. A singular time bank may be redeemed for 30 extra seconds of thinking time. The players who are seated at the first hand of every even level number (2, 4, 6, 8 etc), will receive one extra time bank.
There will be a 15-minute break every four levels, with an additional 75-minute dinner break at the end of Level 14.
PokerNews will be reporting live for the entirety of this $25,000 buy-in event as it plays down to a winner, so be sure to stick with the updates to keep up with all the action.

Aleksejs Ponakovs, in the small blind, lead out 15,000. Conor Beresford, on the button, made the call.
The 8♥ turn saw Ponakovs size up to 20,000. Beresford called.
Ponakovs slowed down on the 5♥ river. Beresford placed a bet large enough to put Ponakovs all in for his effective stack of 28,000 and Ponakovs snap-folded.

The pot had already swelled to approximately 80,000 with two players looking at a full board of 8♠8♦7♣5♥8♥.
The action was on Dimitar Danchev, in the cutoff, who moved all in, putting opponent Sergi Reixach, on the button, to the test for his remaining 56,000. Reixach remained in the tank for some time before eventually making a frustrated fold.
