Peters Hits the River to Bust Antonius

Nível 8 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

David Peters and Patrik Antonius were heads-up on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, when Peters bet 15,000 on the button and Antonius called from the big blind.

The turn came the {3-Spades} and Antonius checked over to Peters who bet 75,000, enough to put Antonius all in, and Antonius called.

Antonius showed {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for two pair, while Peters was on a straight draw with {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}. The {5-Diamonds} river completed the straight for Peters and Antonius made his exit near the end of the day.

Burns Busts Again as Pietrangelo Leaps Into the Lead

Nível 8 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

Kahle Burns was eliminated shortly after losing that massive pot to Artur Martirosian. Forced to reenter, he wouldn't have much better luck on his second bullet.

Burns bet 5,000 on a flop of {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} before he was raised to 17,000 by Nick Petrangelo in the big blind. Burns made it 37,000 and Petrangelo called.

The turn came the {7-Clubs} and Petrangelo checked to Burns who bet 26,000. Petrangelo raised to 72,000 and Burns used up a time chip before calling to see the {3-Spades} on the river.

Petrangelo pushed forward a stack of green 25,000 chips, putting Burns all in for his last 150,000, and Burns again used up a time bank before slamming his chips in the middle.

Petrangelo showed {q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for the flopped full house and Burns flashed {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} before making his exit for the second time.

Nick Petrangelo Leads Star-Studded Field After Day 1 of the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller

Nível 8 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

After eight 60-minute levels of play in the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller here at the 2022 PokerStars and Barcelona©Casino European Poker Tour, it was Nick Petrangelo coming out on top of this star-studded lineup. Petrangelo bagged 1,250,000 and will return to Day 2 looking to keep that momentum going in hopes of a deep run.

A whopping 63 entries joined today to generate a prize pool of €6,112,260, and with late registration and reentries still open until the start of Day 2, will sure to be even more. A total of 42 bagged a stack for Day 2 tomorrow but will have a long way to go to take down this prestigious event. This year is approaching the amount of entries for 2019 as that event had 64 entries total and with registration still open should surpass that number.

Petrangelo got off to a slow start but found heat late in the evening as he flopped a full house against Kahle Burns to double up to the chip lead. Burns was the only player to bust out on two attempts but will still have a chance to make a deep run if he choses to rebuy again.

Other notables who bagged big stacks include Artur Martirosian (1,046,000), Daniel Dvoress (840,000), David Peters (727,000), and football star Neymar Jr (532,000).

Neymar came in to the day late but was the star of the show as fans and players alike lined up on breaks to get pictures and autographs from the Brazilian football icon.

Day 2 starts tomorrow, Aug 15th at 12:30 p.m. local time. Blinds will be 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Players will be able to register or rebuy up until start of day. Day 2 is scheduled to play down until a final table and bag up for Day 3 on Tuesday.
