After eight 60-minute levels of play in the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller here at the 2022 PokerStars and Barcelona©Casino European Poker Tour, it was Nick Petrangelo coming out on top of this star-studded lineup. Petrangelo bagged 1,250,000 and will return to Day 2 looking to keep that momentum going in hopes of a deep run.

A whopping 63 entries joined today to generate a prize pool of €6,112,260, and with late registration and reentries still open until the start of Day 2, will sure to be even more. A total of 42 bagged a stack for Day 2 tomorrow but will have a long way to go to take down this prestigious event. This year is approaching the amount of entries for 2019 as that event had 64 entries total and with registration still open should surpass that number.

Petrangelo got off to a slow start but found heat late in the evening as he flopped a full house against Kahle Burns to double up to the chip lead. Burns was the only player to bust out on two attempts but will still have a chance to make a deep run if he choses to rebuy again.

Other notables who bagged big stacks include Artur Martirosian (1,046,000), Daniel Dvoress (840,000), David Peters (727,000), and football star Neymar Jr (532,000).

Neymar came in to the day late but was the star of the show as fans and players alike lined up on breaks to get pictures and autographs from the Brazilian football icon.

Day 2 starts tomorrow, Aug 15th at 12:30 p.m. local time. Blinds will be 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Players will be able to register or rebuy up until start of day. Day 2 is scheduled to play down until a final table and bag up for Day 3 on Tuesday.
