Margereson Takes a Monster Off Sorensen Flush Over Flush

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Scott Margereson
Scott Margereson

With already around 700,000 in the middle on a board of {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, Torben Sorensen checked to Scott Margereson who used a time bank before firing out 580,000.

Sorensen quickly called as Margereson turned over {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the nut flush. Sorensen flashed {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a lower flush before mucking and surrendering the massive pot.

According to Margereson, he called a raise from Sorensen pre-flop and a bet on the flop, then Sorensen called when Margereson bet on the turn to create the enormous pile of chips in the middle.

Defending Champ No More

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Simon Brandstrom
Simon Brandstrom

Defending champion Simon Brandstrom was just eliminated from one of the main feature tables.

According to tablemate Jack Salter, Brandstrom shoved his last 325,000 from the button and Bruno Pega called in the big blind. Brandstrom had {a-}{9-} but ran into the queens of Pega.

Brandstrom hit trips on the {a-}{a-}{k-} flop, but Pega spiked a {q-} on the turn to make a full house. The river didn't improve Brandstrom and he was sent to the rail.

Mosca Shoves on the Champ, Shows the Bluff

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Enrico Mosca
Enrico Mosca

Simon Brandstrom, the defending champion from 2019, raised to 50,000 from the hijack as Enrico Mosca and Sergi Panella Navarro came along from the blinds.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} and action checked to Brandstrom, who continued for 55,000. Only Mosca called as Panella Navarro got out of the way.

Brandstrom bet another 175,000 on the {3-Spades} turn and Mosca again called as the {6-Diamonds} appeared on the river.

Mosca this time moved all in for around 350,000. Brandstrom, with around the same amount behind, went into the tank and used a time bank card before mucking.

Mosca showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a missed flush draw to a round of "wows" from the table.

It's a second deep run for 2019 EPT Barcelona Main Event champion Simon Brandstrom who has made it through to Day 4, and is on the hunt for a second EPT Main Event title.

"Three years ago seems like a long time ago," he told PokerNews, "But at the same time it feels like not too long ago that I won this event. I've been at home, like most people, been studying a bit poker-wise and doing other things as well."

The remaining players are all guaranteed €23,580, but all eyes will be on the six-figure top prize of €1,714,000, and the title.

The day will begin at Level 23, with blinds of 10,000/25,000 and with a 25,000 ante. Play will consist of six 90-minute levels, with a 20-minute break after each level and a dinner break at the discretion of the tournament directors. A 30-second timer will be in use, with players getting replenished stashes of five time bank cards.

Stay with us at PokerNews as we get one day closer to crowning a champion.
