Day 1 of the €3,000 EPT Mystery Bounty at 2022 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague has wrapped up after 12 levels of play and saw EPT London Main Event champion Ian Hamilton bagging a stack of 216,500 to put him among the chip leaders as he looks to make another deep EPT run.

Hamilton, a young British grinder who took down the EPT London Main Event in October for a career-best £664,400, will return on Day 2 to compete against the 232 players who bagged on Day 1, including chip leader Iliodoros Kamatakis of Greece (329,000), Lars Garp of Sweden (268,500) and Fiodor Martino of Italy (228,000).

Poker Champs Find Bags

The Mystery Bounty event attracted 676 runners for a prize pool of €1,166,880, plus a €676,000 bounty prize pool, and those numbers will surely grow as late registration remains open until the start of play on Day 2.

There was no shortage of poker royalty in the €3,000-buy-in event, including World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champions Koray Aldemir and Hossein Ensan, that latter of whom is also an EPT champion as he took down the 2015 EPT Prague Main Event for €754,510. Both German poker champions found bags and will return for play on Day 2.

Hossein Ensan

Other notables who survived the 12 levels of play on Day 1 include Adrian Mateos, Alexander Norden, Anton Wigg, Leo Margets, Andras Nemeth and Leonard Maue.

Leo Margets

Some of the big names who weren't fortunate enough to make it to bagging time include Team PokerStars Pros Benjamin Spragg and Alejandro Lococo, EPT London Women's Event champion Jessica Pilkington, Emil Bise and Ghassan Bitar, who took a tough beat when his kings were cracked by the ace-ten of Hamilton.

We will see if any of those big names jump back into the action as late registration will remain open until the start of play on Day 2, which will kick off at 1 p.m. local time on Level 13 with blinds of 1,000/1,500/1,500.

Players will be given a Mystery Bounty Token at the start of Day 2 and can pull a mystery bounty for every player they eliminate. Bounties can be but are not limited to €100,000, €50,000, €30,000, €15,000, €10,000, €5,000, €1,000 and €500.

That wraps up the PokerNews live reporting team's coverage of Day 1 of €3,000 EPT Mystery Bounty, but the team will be back tomorrow to report on the Day 2 action.

Turn Sinks Kamel Before River Saves Him

Tamer Kamel

Tamer Kamel was all in for around 40,000 against fellow Brit Tamer Kamel, who had him covered.

Tamer Kamel: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Kuljinder Sidhu: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop looked good for Kamel's jacks, but the {a-Spades} turn did not. However, the {j-Hearts} then peeled off on the river to improve him to a set and he let out an audible sigh of relief as Sidhu went straight to his phone.

"I think I would have to walk around for two minutes," Jon Kyte said about the rollercoaster runout.

As the dealer was counting out Kamel's stack, the eagle-eyed Jack Sinclair, yet another Brit at the table, noticed that his chips weren't in perfect stacks of 20 and Kamel was owed an extra 200.

"Went right by us!" said Kyte, who was seated between Sidhu and Kamel.

"I wasn't going to miss that one!" said Sinclair.

"Too many British people at the table," laughed Kyte.

Wigg Celebrates Prematurely

Anton Wigg

Thanisorn Saelor opened to 2,000 from the hijack and Anton Wigg three-bet to 5,500 from the cutoff. Saelor four-bet jammed for 23,400 and Wigg snap-called.

Thanisorn Saelor: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Anton Wigg: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Saelor was dominated and received no help from the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop or {8-Diamonds} turn. Wigg bumped his fist on the table to tell his opponent "good game," but it was a premature move as the dealer then put down the {q-Hearts} to earn Saelor the double.

Simone Andrian opened to 2,100 from middle position and was called by Ian Hamilton on the button. Nicolas Vayssieres three-bet to 8,000 which folded out Andrian. Hamilton had other ideas and jammed as the big stack and was snap-called by Vayssieres, who had 28,300.

Nicolas Vayssieres: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Ian Hamilton: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} flop gave the EPT London Main Event winner an open-ended straight draw with he completed on the {8-Spades} turn. The {8-Diamonds} river completed the board and sent the Frenchman to the rail.

An Orbit with EPT London Champ Ian Hamilton

Nível 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Ian Hamilton
Ian Hamilton

Britain's Ian Hamilton is fresh off of taking down the EPT London £5,300 Main Event for a career-best £664,400, so PokerNews spent an orbit with the newly minted EPT champ.

Hand #1 (UTG): Hamilton was first to act and folded.

Hand #2 (Big Blind): Mats Ullereng completed in the small blind and Hamilton raised. Ullereng called. Ullereng checked on the flop of {7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Hamilton bet 2,500. Ullereng called. Ullereng checked again on the {q-Hearts} turn and Hamilton sized up to 7,000, which got a quick fold from his opponent.

Hand #3 (Small Blind): Action folded to Hamilton in the small blind and he open-jammed into Manuel Fernandez in the big blind who had just a few chips behind. Fernandez folded.

Hand #4 (Button): Action folded to Hamilton and he followed suit.

Hand #5 (Cutoff): Hamilton opened to 2,100 and Manuel Fernandez three-bet jammed a stack of 9,000 from the button. Hamilton called.

Manuel Fernandez: {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Ian Hamilton: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Hamilton stayed ahead as the board ran out {7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades} to improve him to a straight and eliminate the short-stacked opponent.

Hand #6 (Hijack): Simone Andrian opened to 2,100 from under the gun and Hamilton folded.

Hand #7 (Early Position): Hamilton folded.

Hand #8 (Early Position): Hamilton opened to 2,100 and Ghassan Bitar three-bet to 6,200 from the next seat. Hamilton called. Hamilton checked on the flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Bitar bet 6,600. Hamilton check-raised to around 30,000 and Bitar called off with less.

Ghassan Bitar: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Ian Hamilton: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Hamilton was behind until the turn brought the {10-Spades} to improve him to trips and nothing changed on the {8-Hearts} river to mark Bitar's elimination.

"Come on. Unbelievable," Bitar muttered after getting his kings cracked.

Vojtech Cervinka opened to 2,500 from the button and was called by Emrah Yildiz from the small blind. Teun Mulder then three-bet to 8,500 from the big blind and only Cervinka called.

Cervinka called again when Mulder bet 3,500 on the {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop. Mulder then check-called for 6,500 on the {8-Diamonds} turn.

The Dutch poker player then emptied the clip for around 43,000 on the {q-Diamonds} river. Cervinka went into the tank for a round a minute before calling.

Mulder tabled his {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens while Cervinka rivered a set with his {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}.

Majid Nadeem opened to 2,000 from the button before Renato Ribeiro put in the three-bet from the small blind. Gyu Hyuk Lee then made it 16,500 from the big blind which prompted Nadeem to jam for around 50,000.

"I'd call if it was Day 2," said Ribeiro before he folded. Lee, who had slightly less than Nadeem, called for his tournament life.

Gyu Hyuk Lee: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

With around 14,000 in the middle on the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, Peter Jorgne check-called from under the gun after Roland Rokita bet 4,000 from the button.

The {9-Clubs} turn checked through to the {5-Clubs} river, which prompted Jorgne to lead out for 11,000. Rokita toyed with his cards and chips before making the call.

"Ace-high," announced Jorgne as he tabled his {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Rokita then turned over his {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} to take the pot with a superior ace.

The {j-Clubs} and Campomanes checked to Unsal. Unsal bet 8,400 and Campomanes thought for a while before calling. Unsal turned over {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a flush to take down the pot as Campomanes mucked.
