Tom Middleton and another player checked the {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop. Middleton's bet of 500 on the {8-Diamonds} turn was called and the river was the {9-Diamonds}.

Middleton shoved for 1,900 and was quickly called. Middleton showed {a-Spades}{8-Clubs} for two pair, beating the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} of his opponent to stay alive and double up.

Four players checked a {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop and the turn was the {3-Spades}.

Gao Xiang checked and Blaz Zerjav bet 600. Corel Theuma called, Enzo Vito folded and Xiang came along as well.

The river was the {3-Clubs}. Xiang led out for 2,600 and Zerjav folded. Theuma called.

Xiang showed {5-Hearts}{4-Spades} for five-high and flicked his chips towards Theuma who turned over {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for bottom two pair.

"Cash game special," he said with a smile. "Sick that I said in my had four-five offsuit not even suited."

With over 5,000 chips in the middle, action was on a {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop. Lin Chen sat with a bet of 1,800 in front of him and had called a raise from Mikael Ecanvil for 4,500.

The turn was the {7-Spades}. Chen checked and Ecanvil eventually bet 5,000. Chen threw his hand into the muck with both players sitting below starting stack.

Meanwhile at the same table, Samuel Ju sits with a stack of close to 50,000 heading towards the end of the first level.

Action was picked up on the river in a pot between Espen Jorstad on the button and [Removed:510] in the small blind with the board reading {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

Trofimov checked on the river and Jorstad sat still before pushing out a stack of 24,100 with just a single 500-chip behind, a massive overbet into the pot of around 10,000.

Trofimov went in the tank for several minutes before folding to concede the pot to the latest WSOP Main Event champion.

Nakdali Bombs River

Fabien Roussel opened pre-flop to 300 and found calls from Yaman Nakdali and Jack Sinclair in the blinds.

The trio checked the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop and the turn was the {3-Diamonds}. Nakdali bet 400 and Roussel was the only caller.

The river brought the {a-Hearts} and Nakdali sized up, betting 3,000. Roussel contemplated his decision before eventually folding.

Wounded Middleton Finds a Small Double

Tom Middleton took an early hit at Table 2 and PokerNews saw him getting his final 700 chips in the middle from the button in a heads-up pot against Jamie Nixon on the cutoff.

Middleton had his opponent dominated and, miraculously, the flop landed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Spades} give him trips and leave Nixon drawing to just a runner-runner flush before the board finished out {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} to earn Middleton the small double and save him from behind the first elimination of the tournament.
