Tsakiris Doubles Through Scholten

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

An all in and call were overheard and Ioannis Tsakiris was the one at risk in the small blind, having received action from Freek Scholten, who was under the gun.

Ioannis Tsakiris: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Freek Scholten: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Tsakiris was in a coin flip situation for his tournament life and wound up on the correct end as the flop came {5-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} with the turn {2-Hearts} and river {q-Hearts} coming safely behind it to complete the runout and earn him a double.

Bussieres Doubles Through Martini

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jonathan Bussieres got his stack of 136,000 in preflop from the hijack with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, dominating the {9-}{9-} shown down by Julien Martini on the button. The board ran out clean for Bussieres, who collected a little under half of Martini's chips.

Zub Eliminates Huber

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Preflop action saw a single-raised pot fold to Josef Huber in the small blind, who called. Mikhail Zub was in the big blind and defended to take action three ways to a flop of {2-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Huber checked and Zub put out a bet of 75,000. The original raiser folded and Zub check-raised all in. Huber called.

Josef Huber: {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Mikhail Zub: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Huber's top pair was up against an even better top pair, leaving him in need of hitting a ten to stay alive.

"Give me the ten, please," requested Huber. The dealer did not comply, bringing a turn {9-Hearts} and river {q-Hearts} to complete the runout, giving both players trips but leaving Huber's ten kicker to be second best.

Stacks were counted and Huber's was totaled to be 155,000, while Zub's count was 167,000. Huber didn't notice it at first and kindly asked for the stack to be broken down again.

"Ah, I see it," he said a quick second later. "Good game," he added, shaking hands with Zub and leaving for the payout desk with a smile on his face.

Apicella-Albertini Eliminates Two

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Three players were all in at Table 10, with [Removed:102] covering Stefanite Fechete, who had about 110,000, and Roman Skudar, who had about 40,000.

Apicella-Albertini: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Fechete: {8-}{8-}
Skudar: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

The {q-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts} was about as good as Apicella-Albertini could have hoped for on the flop. The {a-Hearts} turn and {5-Diamonds} river kept him best with kings full and the other two players headed for payouts.

Michaelis Eliminated on First Hand

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

The dealer had called for an open seat on Table 8 as Paul Michaelis, who entered the day as the shortest stack in the tournament, was eliminated on the first hand. He went all in under the gun and was up against Javier Zarco, who was in middle position.

Paul Michaelis: {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Javier Zarco: {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Michaelis found no help as the board came {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}, giving Zarco Broadway and sending Michaelis to the payout desk, which is likely to be a pit stop on his way downstairs to defend his title in the Main Event which just got underway.
