Newey Keeps Chipping Up

Nível 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Paul Newey in a previous EPT event

Paul Newey already double his stack but he just won another pot. This pot was only worth five big blinds, but winning a pot is winning a pot.

Newey checked from the big blind when Helge Pedersen checked from the small blind when it folded to him. The {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop was dealt and Pedersen checked again. Newey bet one big blind and he was called.

The turn was the {q-Spades} and both players quickly checked, as they did on the {4-Diamonds} river as well.

Pedersen showed {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} but he was outkicked by Newey who had {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Vrakas Clipped; Piraux in the Tank

Nível 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Georgios Vrakas (at an earlier event)
Georgios Vrakas (at an earlier event)

Georgios Vrakas, who won this very event back in 2017 for €330,000, has already parted with nearly two-thirds of his starting stack in the first level of the day. With a completed board of {5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, as well as an already sizable pot of over 15,000 out there, Vrakas checked after his opponent had checked first.

Vrakas' opponent tabled {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a flush and Vrakas mucked to drop to 11,000.

At another table, Romain Piraux was already facing a decision for his tournament life. He had 6,700 in front of him on a {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts} turn, met by a shove from Carlos Egea Hernandez. Piraux had 20,500 left and ultimately ended up with a dead hand after the clock ran down to zero seconds.

Roth Takes From Wigg and Aganauskas

Nível 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Anton Wigg was involved in a five-way pot were all players put 400 in the middle. The flop was {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and it checked to Wigg in the hijack who bet 700. He was called by Vytautas Aganauskas from the big blind and Antal Roth from the big blind.

The {4-Clubs} turn was added to the board and all three players still around checked this time to see the {5-Spades} on the river. Aganauskas checked again but Roth bet 2,200. That was enough to push Wigg and Aganauskas out of the pot and Roth picked up the pot.
