A big pot was brewing over on table one and Ali Reza Fatehi was involved against Raffaele Carnevale. Plenty of chips were already in the middle and Carnevale had bet the before facing the shove of Fatehi on the button.
Carnevale gave it some thought and eventually splashed all his chips in, then sighed as soon as Fatehi had turned over for two pair. Before grabbing his belongings, Carnevale briefly showed his and quickly left the tournament area.
Down to his last 11,200, Paul-Francois Tedeschi moved all in from the button and Fadi Kamar called out of the big blind, having his opponent covered by quite some margin.
Tedeschi rolled over the while Kamar had . The board came and Tedeschi paired his king on the flop, then dodged the flush draw and one over cards to avoid elimination. Julian Sitbon, who had previously been sitting right next to Tedeschi, was less fortunate and busted previously.
Victoria Coren-Mitchell had been sat with a stack of 10,000 chips for a long while, but now she has some more in front of her andn is almost back to starting stack.
"Well we had Ace-Jack against Ace-Ten of this gentleman," she said, pointing to Karim Abdelmoumene, "Let me see, what else. Then we won another pot, but we don't know what we had in that one!" she said with a grin.
Hossein Ensan entered the competition in the last level before the dinner break and has since tripled up his stack. "I made a big hero call with just ace-high for almost all of my chips and was good," the former EPT champion grinned. On his table, especially Samuel Touil and Dinesh Alt are getting involved in many hands and it was no surprise to see them tangle twice in quick succession.
On the river of a board , Alt bet 7,400 out of the small blind and Touil raised to 22,300. The player on the button folded and so did Alt.
Soon after, Alt got some chips back. Touil bet the turn for 3,000 and Alt just called. After the river both players checked and Touil showed for two pair, Alt claimed the pot with for a flush.
Maria Konnikova has re-entered recently and one table over, another Maria is sitting. The 2018 PCA champion Maria Lampropulos raised to 1,500 and picked up three callers including Paul-Francois Tedeschi, Hubert Matuszewski and the big blind. On the flop, the action checked to Matuszewski and a bet of 2,500 did the trick.
With three players in the hand, the big blind had 1,800 in front of him and Louis Salter made it 4,400 to go in late position, Maxime Berbudeau cold-called from the small blind and the big blind folded.
On the turn, Berbudeau checked, Salter shoved 15,700 and Berbudeau called after a minute of thought.
Louis Salter:
Maxime Berbudeau:
Although both players sported beautiful draws it was just a pair of sixes that Berbudeau needed to win after the river. Salter quickly headed to the cashier's area and bought himself back in with a fresh stack of 30,000.
