From a man who entered this event with nearly $22 million in career tournament cashes, the admission that this was "one of the best tournaments of my career" make a strong statement. That's what Erik Seidel called his win in the 2015 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller. Seidel topped a field of 71 entries to add €2,015,000 to his coffers, making him jump from fifth till third on the poker's all-time money list, surpassing Phil Ivey and Daniel Colman.

"I've knocked on the door a few times here," he said. "It was a surprise to me because I was low on chips all day."

Indeed, Seidel spent much of the day near the bottom of the counts and entered heads-up play at a 3-1 deficit to fast-rising Polish star Dzmitry Urbanovich. However, he managed to grind his way to victory over the course of a lengthy four-hour match that saw him slowly but surely turn the tide. He eventually worked to put Urbanovich away without letting the lead slip from his hands once he grabbed it.

The final day of the tournament began with the official final table of eight players, featuring some of the usual high-stakes stars like Igor Kurganov, Max Altergott, and Scott Seiver.

Seiver came in as the short stack with just about 12 big blinds and found himself out the door in short order. German World Championship of Online Poker champ Fedor Holz was next to go, shoving {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for 15 big blinds over a button open from Kurganov. Kurganov put him at risk with the {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, and the {k-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts} board cut the tournament down to six.

Two hands was all it took for Thomas Muehloecker to follow Holz out the door in sixth place. He found a good spot, calling off his last eight big blinds from the big blind with the {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} when Urbanovich shipped with the {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} from the small blind. The star of EPT Malta flopped a three and managed to hold up as Muehloecker bricked out.

Then, Urbanovich ascended to the top when he flopped trip fours with the {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and took a heap from Kurganov, who was in the lead at the time, and it looked like everyone else might be playing for second because Urbanovich then held half of the chips in play five-handed. Kurganov's fall was completed a bit later when he lost a race to Urbanovich for the rest of his stack and busted in fifth place.

Urbanovich's hot run continued when he cracked Dario Sammartino's {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} as the board came {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, giving Urbanovich a backdoor flush. Two hands later, Altergott, who grinded a short stack the whole day, sent his chips to Seidel.

After the dinner break, the heads-up match began, and Seidel couldn't do much but tread water for the first hour. However, he stayed patient and found a double when Urbanovich shoved the button with the {k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Seidel woke up with the {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. The eight-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner called off his 12.5-big blind stack and doubled up. He took the lead shortly after when he made a flush with the {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} on a {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Hearts} board and got paid off for 1.6 million on the river.

From there, Seidel didn't let up and chipped away for the next two hours until Urbanovich limp-shoved for just over 5 million (17 big blinds) with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Seidel had a dominating {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, and the board of {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs} meant Seidel had his win.

"It feels so good just to get the win," he said afterwards. "I'm just thrilled."

Dzmitry Urbanovich Eliminated in 2nd Place (€1,446,600)

Hand #227: Urbanovich limped in from the button with {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, like he had done many times before.

Seidel raised it up from the big blind to 900,000, like he had done before. This time though, Seidel had a really big hand with the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

While the commentators thought Urbanovich might limp-call, it was in fact a shove that followed. The young Polish player shoved for 5,060,000, and Seidel instantly called.

The flop came {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, not doing really anything. After the {3-Clubs} on the turn, Urbanovich was down to just 3 outs. The {7-Clubs} on the river was a blank and just like that, Erik Seidel was crowned the champion while Urbanovich had to do with seconds. That second place was still good for €1,446,000 though, catapulting Urbanovich to the top of the Polish all time money list, surpassing Dominik Panka and Marcin Horecki.

Hand #178: Seidel gave Urbanovich a walk.

Hand #179: Urbanovich made it 425,000 to got with {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, Seidel folded.

Hand #180: Another walk.

Hand #181: The limped pot saw a flop of {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop checked by both players. The {Q-Spades} hit the turn and Seidel bet 200,000 with {K-Spades}{6-Spades}. Urbanovich raised to 525,000 with his eight-five and Seidel called with his flush draw. The {J-Spades} made Seidel's flush and both players checked. Seidel won it with his flush.

Hand #182: Urbanovich raised to 400,000 and Seidel laid it down.

Hand #183: In the limped pot Seidel and Urbanovich took a flop of {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts} and both players checked. The {4-Clubs} on the turn made Urbanovich bet 400,000 with {Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Seidel had {A-Spades}{7-Spades} and called. {5-Hearts} on the river and both players checked. The 1,260,000 pot went to Seidel.

Hand #184: Urbanovichmade it 400,000 with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, Seidel called with the suited {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The flop was as good as they could come for Seidel with {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and both players checked. The {Q-Spades} on the turn was the money card for Seidel. He checked again, and saw Urbanovich bet 425,000. Seidel check raised to 1,07,000 and with top pair and top kicker, Urbanovich called.

The {K-Hearts} on the river improved Seidel's two pair to a flush, and the routinier bet 1,600,000 into the 3,010,000 pot. Urbanovich wasn't too happy, sighed, and tanked for a bit. "Do you ever bluff?" Urbanovich asked. Seidel did not respond, not even a smile. Urbanovich eventually called, and got the bad news soon enough.

For the first time this tournament, Seidel is now the chip leader.

Hand #133: Erik Seidel pushed all in from the small blind with {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}, and Altergott snapped it off with {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for his 1.485 million. A {6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{q-Spades} flop meant Altergott needed a two-outer, which he didn't find on the {k-Diamonds} turn or {5-Diamonds} river.

Hand #131: Dario Sammartino found {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} and pushed for 1,725,000 from the small blind. Urbanovich in the big blind instantly called with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. With the board paired, Urbanovich now had some chop outs.

The {4-Diamonds} on the turn gave Urbanovich some more outs and Sammartino got up from the table.

The {6-Diamonds} on the river sealed the deal. Sammartino couldn't hide his disappointment, but didn't leave with his shoulders hanging. The Italian wished the other players luck, and made his way to the pay-out desk to collect his €709,500 cheque.

Hand #126: Dzmitry Urbanovich opened to 250,000 with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and immediately called the shove of Igor Kurganov, who had 2.24 million on the button. Kurganov had {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, and he took a big lead as {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Clubs} flopped.

"Now a queen of clubs for suspense," Kurganov said with a smile.

The smile disappeared as the {10-Hearts} hit the turn to give Urbanovich the win as long as no king hit the river. It was a {7-Clubs}, and former leader Kurganov hit the rail fifth.

Hand #99: Igor Kurganov got a walk.

Hand #100: Dzmitry Urbanovich made it 200,000 in the cutoff with {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Max Altergott called in the big blind with {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The final board came {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and the only action was a check-call on the turn by Altergott.

Hand #101: Kurganov jammed on the button and got two quick folds with an unknown hand.

Hand #102: Kurganov opened to 225,000 with {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Urbanovich called with {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} in the big blind. He flopped trips on {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. He checked, and Kurganov bet 250,000. Urbanovich raised to 655,000, Kurganov called after thinking briefly, and Urbanovich filled up on the {6-Spades} turn. He kept up the aggression with a bet of 880,000, and Kurganov took a couple of minutes to call. The {a-Hearts} river gave Kurganov aces up, and Urbanovich bet 1.725 million after a lengthy tank.

"No coffee right now?" Kurganov asked. "Nothing to hide?"

Kurganov then asked if Urbanovich was really tanking with trips. He called, and Urbanovich took down the massive pot.

Hand #60: Action folded to Igor Kurganov with {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} in the cutoff. He opened for 135,000 and Altergott instantly folded his button. Fedor Holz in the small blind thought about it for a bit, and moved all in for 910,000 with {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

Sammartino in the big blind folded instantly. Kurganov did the math, and called.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{A-Spades}{10-Clubs}, giving both a piece. The {A-Spades} on the turn took away a lot of Holz's outs. The {7-Hearts} on the river wasn't one of the cards Holz needed, and the young German made his exit in 7th place.

Phil Ivey and JC Alvarado Weigh In On Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao

Nível 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Today is the day. Later tonight, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will square off in what is deemed as the "Fight of the Decade." Some are even calling it the biggest fight in the history of boxing. If you're going by just the purse of the fight, which some anticipate could reach $300 million, then this will indeed be the biggest fight of all time.

Here in Monaco, the PokerNews team is currently covering the biggest event on the European Poker Tour schedule. This season's EPT Grand Final will boast an all-time high of 78 events on the schedule, highlighted by the €100,000 Super High Roller, the €50,000 Super High Roller, the €25,500 High Roller, and the €10,600 Main Event. But even despite all of the massive high-stakes poker action on offer, some players are still very much interested in the Mayweather-Pacquiao duel that will go down in the bright lights of Las Vegas on May 2.

Two of those interested are Phil Ivey and JC Alvarado, both fans of boxing and fight betting. Ivey even founded All-In Entertainment, which is a "boxing and entertainment firm representing sports and media interests, the promotion of worldwide entertainment events and orchestrating boxing events" alongside Jeff Fried and Monta Ellis.

While the two were playing the €100,000 Super High Roller in Monte Carlo, PokerNews' Remko Rinkema caught with both of them to get their views on the spectacle that will take place and who will win, Mayweather or Pacquiao. Check out the two interviews below:
