The details are sketchy, as we got them second hand, but Cates has been eliminated from the tournament, that's for sure. Cates had on a board where the flop had been king-high and an ace had hit the river. Connor Drinan was the one calling Cates' shove with for the rivered higher pair, and so eliminated the always dangerous Cates.
As we arrived the turn was already out and Leon Tsoukernik in the hijack had just bet 70,000 with 121,000 behind on . Christoph Vogelsang moved all in from the cutoff and Tsoukernik tanked for quite a bit. At one point he said he had a king, but he wasn't too sure what to do with it. He tanked and tanked, telling Christoph and us he suspected the German to have pocket queens.
After some more time debating what to do, Mike Watson called for the clock. The floor came over and informed Tsoukernik he had one minute to act on his hand. After about half a minute, Tsoukernik asked how much time he had left and where the floor was looking. The floor pointed to the clock on the screen, and Leon laughed "The clock? I have a very nice Rolex right here!"
With ten seconds left the floor began the countdown. With just four seconds to act, Tsoukernik moved his chips over the line to call. Vogelsang showed for the straight with the flush draw. "I'm dead" said Tsoukernik, showing .
The river came the and Tsoukernik got up and gathered his things. He and Vogelsang discussed the hand for a bit more, and we overheard Tsoukernik say "You paid a lot on the flop."
