Day 2 EPT Vienna High Roller Set to Go
The penultimate day of the EPT Vienna High Roller sponsored by PokerStars.net here at the Hofburg Palace is set to begin very shortly.
A total of 136 players entered the tournament and with 35 reentries this brings the total field so far up to 171 entries. Payouts will be confirmed when registration closes at the start of the day, but the first-place prize will undoubtedly be over €250,000.
There are still 80 players remaining and it is Andrey Andreev from Russia who leads the field with 338,400 chips after winning a huge pot on the second-to-last hand of yesterday’s play. Not far behind him though are the two Danes, Simon Ravnsbaek (315,100) in second and Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen (298,700) in third.
Players on their second bullet who are still in the tournament include Team PokerStars Pros Jonathan Duhamel (111,700), Eugene Katchalov (69,800), and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier (55,000), along with PokerStars Team Online’s Marc-Andre Ladouceur (35,700).
Registration is still open until the start of play today and there are a few players who have been eliminated but can still fire that second €10,000 bullet: Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, Maxim Lykov, Joni Jouhkimainen, Sotirios Koutoupas, Walid Bou Habib, Sergio Aido, and Kimmo Kurko are just a few of the players who entered and subsequently busted Day 1.
Some other players to watch on Day 2 include Sam Trickett (134,000), Alex Kravchenko (114,700) and Surinder Sunar (235,700).
The money bubble will burst towards the later levels of the day so there is still some way to go before the remaining players can expect a return on their investment. Play will then continue until a final table of eight emerges.
Play resumes at Noon local time with the blinds now at 1000 / 2000 / 300. Be sure to stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team keep you up to date with all the big hands, chip counts, bust outs and so much more.
