[Removed:17] Leads Day 2

After eight levels of play on Day 1A and Day 1B there are now 316 players still in contention for the PokerStars.it European Poker Tour Sanremo title and trophy. Late registration is open till the start of the day so the total amount of players might still increase a little. Right now the clock tells us there have been 556 players in total, 281 players short of season 9's 797.

Liv Boeree is the sole former EPT Sanremo winner still in contention, though she's short with just 12,500 in chips. The only other former Sanremo winner who participated, title defender Ludovic Lacay, busted yesterday.

There's enough other stories to be told though and we'll keep out eyes open today as we start reporting this tournament again in two hours at noon local time. There's a bunch of former EPT winners still in the tournament with EPT Prague 2013 winner Julian Track (97,300) in best position. So far his promise to never play a live tournament again hasn't proven honest, but who cares about that stuff anyway?

Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden is again doing well so far, he'll start the day with 122,800 in chips. After already finishing in about every position but first in the last couple of years, will he go the distance here in Sanremo? We'll also keep a keen eye on the beautiful Gaelle Baumann (130,500), WSOP champion Pius Heinz (80,100), and seasoned pro Jan Sjavik (77,300). Heck, there's so many familiar faces and hot running newcomers still out there, we'll try to cover 'em all today.

Special attention will surely go to [Removed:17] who leads with 179,000 in chips. "How did you get up there?" we asked him at the end of the day. "Well, it wasn't a skill thing. I just hit everything on this table," Yan replied. Let's see if he's able to once again hit everything there is to hit today.

Check back in two hours for coverage of Day 2 of the PokerStars.it EPT Sanremo Main Event. The plan is to play six more levels of 75 minutes. There will be no dinner break in that case, the day should end around 8:15 pm.
