Kitai Spends A LOT of Time in the Tank Against Duhamel

We've seen some epic tanks in our day, and Davidi Kitai's recent one is up there. When we arrived Kitai was in the tank with around 30,000 pulled into the pot on a board reading {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

His opponent, Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel, had moved all in with the bigger stack, and Kitai was debating what to do with his remaining 21,500. We're not sure how long Kitai was thinking about it before we arrived, but we do know that he spent ten minutes in the tank while we stood idly by.

"Will you show me if I fold?" Kitai eventually asked. Duhamel, who remained fixated in the same pose, did not answer.

Eventually someone called time on Kitai, which gave him one more minute to act. The floorman, Luca, counted down the clock, and Kitai stared at Duhamel during the last ten seconds.

10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

Kitai did not call. The clock expired and his hand was ruled dead. He then showed he had been taking so much time with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for trips. Duhamel declined to show his cards.

Meanwhile, as that hand was playing out a short-stacked Sorel Mizzi, who was crippled earlier in the day by Vanessa Selbst, was eliminated from the tournament.

Danchev All In Again

On the {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} turn there are about 13,000 chips in the middle of the table and Alexander Kopylkov led for 3,000. Dimitar Danchev moved all in for 21350 and the Russian took off his sunglasses. After two minutes of consideration, Kopylkov mucked his cards.

Garcia On The Rail

After losing a big pot against Ole Schemion towards the end of the previous level, Jose Carlos Garcia was left with only 15,000 chips. Sylvain Loosli raised, Garcia called and Dominik Nitsche then three-bet. Loosli four-bet and called the all in of Garcia, Nitsche folded. It was pocket aces for the Frenchman and pocket tens for Garcia, the board delivered no help at all.

We arrived on the {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} turn in the very last hand before the break and saw Ognjen Sekularac lead for 3,300 from the cutoff. One seat over, [Removed:119] moved all in for 31,975 chips and the Serbian high stakes pro tank called with the {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

He shook his head in disgust when his opponent turned over the {4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and the {J-Hearts} river completed the board.

First Reentry in the High Roller

Nick Maimone has become the first reentry in today's competition and immediately got involved in a hand with Adrian Mateos. He defended his big blind against the raise of his opponent one seat over and then check-raised the flop {2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

On the {9-Spades} turn he lead for 3,500 and was called, same for the 9,000 bet on the {9-Hearts} river. Mateos called with pocket aces but was no good against the nuts of Maimone.

Big Pot Sent to Schemion

We've already mentioned that there is an intense race between Ole Schemion and Vanessa Selbst for the EPT10 Player of the Year title, and if the first four levels are any indication, the Sanremo High Roller is shaping up to play a major part. That's because both players have chipped up nicely and are primed to make a deep run in the tournament.

Most recently, Jose Carlos Garcia opened for 800 from middle position then called a three-bet to 2,200 from Schemion on the button. The {7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop saw Garcia check and then call a bet of 2,600 from Schemion.

When the {Q-Diamonds} turned, Garcia check-called another bet, this time 5,800, and the {4-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Garcia checked for a third time and Schemion came out firing to the tune of 13,000.

Garcia thought for well over a minute before check-raising to 33,000, and Schemion spent an equal amount of time in the tank before making the call. Garcia tabled the {10-Hearts}{j-Spades} for tens, but it was no good as Schemion made a better hand on the turn with the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}.
