Pantling Done For

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Andrew Pantling
Andrew Pantling

Andrew Pantling, who finished runner up to Steve O'Dwyer here last year for €842,000, has been eliminated from the tournament. We saw him sitting on an outer table talking to Roberto Romanello who was also recently eliminated from that same table.

Former table mate Olvedo Heinze told us that Pantling had lost a big pot to Georgy Filippovich a bit earlier. Not much later he lost his remaining chips to Filippovich as well. Pantling shoved allin holding {A-}{9-} but couldn't out flop, out turn or out river Filippovich with ace-ten.

Wahlroos Losing Tusks

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Thomas Wahlroos
Thomas Wahlroos

On a {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} flop, Henrik Lyngmark fired 2,600 and Thomas Wahlroos was the only caller in the big blind. The turn was the {7-Spades} and Wahlroos checked again, Lyngmark fired 5,000 this time but again Wahlroos made the call.

The {5-Hearts} came on the river and Wahlroos checked a final time, Lyngmark bet 7,500 and Wahlroos tanked for a minute before finally opting to fold his hand.

Viktor’s House

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Three players were fighting over a 10k pot. They had got to the turn of a board reading {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Viktor Blom was in the big blind and he checked it to Mikal Blomlie who bet 2,300. Adam Joseph Reynolds folded but Blom made the call.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and when both players checked the dealer instructed, “Showdown.”

Blom turned over {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and whatever Blomlie had he couldn’t beat that and an important pot was pushed to the Full Tilt Professional.

Ausmus Ousted

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

We saw World Series of Poker bracelet winner and former October Niner Jeremy Ausmus walking out of the tournament room with his backpack in tow, but before he left he was kind enough to inform us of some specifics.

According to him, an aggressive player opened for 1,000 under the gun and another player called. A third player then three-bet to 2,900, Ausmus four-bet to 5,000 with {j-}{j-}, and only the three-bettor called to see a flop of {a-}{10-}{5-} with two clubs. Both players checked and the dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}.

Ausmus' opponent moved all in, and Ausmus called off his last 10,000. Unfortunately for him, his opponent was head with {a-}{q-} and the river failed to produce another jack.

Kuo Can't Be Scared

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Kitty Kuo opened under the gun for 1,100 and a player two positions down made it 2,700. All other players quickly folded but Kuo couldn't be scared away just that easily. She made the call and saw a flop heads up.

{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} on the flop and Kuo check-called a 3,000 continuation bet. Her opponent checked behind both the turn ({4-Spades}) and river ({9-Spades}) and Kuo showed her {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Those eights were a winner, small pot to the twitter sensation.

Defending Champ Loses a Little

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

After a player in early position opened for 800, Charlie Combes shoved all in for 8,025 from the button. Defending champ Steve O'Dwyer asked for a count before making the call from the big blind, and the original raiser folded.

O'Dwyer: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Combes: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Combes was well out in front, but O'Dwyer has been known to run hot in this tournament. The {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop made it seem like he might do so again as he picked up an open-ended straight draw, but then the {4-Diamonds} and {6-Diamonds} blanked on the turn and river respectively. Ship the doubles to Combes.

Endangered Sharks

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes

It looks like it’s been a tough day for the entertaining Team PokerStars Pro Humberto Brenes from Costa Rica. He has his lucky sharks with him and entered the tournament carrying two larger sharks, but they seem to have stayed in their cage so far as his stack has dwindled.

We saw him win a small pot by betting a flop of {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} but his opponent had a look at his stack and threw his cards in.

Up To 415

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Laste year 531 players entered and Steve O'Dwyer beat everyone there was to beat to take down the €1,224,000 first place prize. This year there will be more entrants than last year, as the total number for today is up to 415. Add the 214 we had yesterday on Day 1a and that makes 629, already 98 players more than last year. Registration is still open and will remain open till the start of play tomorrow, so anticipate the participants number to grow even more.

Romanello Eliminated

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

Roberto Romanello is out, he pushed all in over what looked to be a four-bet to 6,800 from Olvedo Heinze. Heinze quickly called.

Romanello: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Heinze: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board came {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and Heinze made a full house to knock the Welsh former EPT champion.
