Mizzi Doubles Through Smith

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi

Sorel Mizzi had dropped to 135,000 and got all his chips in preflop against Dan Smith.

Mizzi: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Smith: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The flop came {2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. "Queen!" shouted Smith.

The {2-Spades} came on the turn followed by the {Q-Hearts} on the river.

"There you go," said Mizzi to giggles from the table, "ask and ye shall receive."

Altergott Eliminated

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Max Altergott
Max Altergott

Max Altergott had been crippled in a previous hand and got his final few chips in preflop blind on blind against chip leader Philipp Gruissem.

Altergott: {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Gruissem: {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}

"You got €100,000 in with seven-deuce?" said Gruissem, gently ribbing his opponent.

It looked as though Altergott would double up as the flop came {5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the turn gave him two pair with the {7-Clubs}. But the river was the {A-Spades} and Gruissem made a straight meaning last year's winner is now out of the tournament.

Peters vs. Schemion

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

David Peters opened for 13,000 and Ole Schemion defended from the big blind. Both players checked the {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop, and then Schemion led out for 33,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn. Peters took his time before making the call, and the {J-Spades} completed the board on the river. Schemion fired a second time for 75,000, and it did the trick as Peters sent his cards to the muck.

Gus Hansen Eliminates Tobias Reinkemeier

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Tobias Reinkemeier has just been knocked out of the tournament by his neighbor Gus Hansen. The players at the table were needling Reinkemeier about his alleged over aggressive play, but that's about everything we know at the moment.

FPS Main Event Enters Day 2 with Dion Leading the Pack

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Yann Dion
Yann Dion

On Thursday, Day 1b of the France Poker Series (FPS) played out. As such, we received our daily update on that tournament from PokerStars, and we thought we' share it with you:

PCA finalist Yann Dion is still leading FPS Monaco as the event goes in to Day 2. With 206,300, the Day 1a chip leader is just 19,400 ahead of fellow Canadian Conor Shelly who finished Day 1b with 186,900. There are 389 players still in the running, from the 837 entries who entered the €1,100 event (247 on Day 1a and 590 on Day 1b).

The prize pool for the event is €811,890 with €150,00 for the winner and 111 players paid. Full prize pool details will be published after the start of Day 2.

Dion is an EPT regular who finished seventh at the 2013 PCA for $230,000 and has live tournament winnings of more than $850,000. Team PokerStars Pros Jake Cody, Alex Kravchenko and Liv Boeree all made it through yesterday but Boeree in particular has her work cut out for her today with only 17,000. PokerStars Team Online’s Ronan Monfort is also lagging with 16,800.

Among the 278 Day 1b survivors were a bunch of EPT regulars including 2013 PCA champion Dimitar Danchev, EPT Berlin runner-up Andrew Chen, EPT Madrid runner-up Fraser MacIntyre, EPT Barcelona winner Mikalai Pobal, Ilan Boujenah, Roger Hairabedian, Aussie Millions champ Ami Barer, Luca Moschitta, EPT Prague winner Salvatore Bonavena and EPT Kyiv runner-up Alexander Dovzhenko.

They will join the 111 Day 1a survivors who include EPT9 Player of the Year Jan Bendik, UKIPT London winner Sergio Aido, FTOPS Main Event winner Niall Farrell, Zachary Korik, PCA finalist Shyam Srinivasan, EPTLive commentator Steven Moreau, Josh Prager, Estrellas Barcelona champion Lorenzo Sabato, PokerStars Team Online’s Mickey Petersen and Gabriel Nassif.

A total of 179 players won their seats for FPS Monaco and 82 are still in. The EPT Grand Final features 48 events between April 23-May 2 at the beautiful Monte Carlo Bay Hotel in Monaco. As well as FPS Monaco, the festival includes the €100k Super High Roller which started yesterday, the €10,600 Main Event which starts on Sunday, a €2k Open Face Chinese event, a €1k Womens Event and €25k High Roller as well as cash games of all kinds running every day from noon until 6am.

Voulgaris Eliminated by Haxton

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Haralabos Voulgaris
Haralabos Voulgaris

Isaac Haxton raised it up to 16,000 from the hijack position. Two positions down it was Haralabos Voulgaris who shoved allin from the button. Both blinds folded, Haxton immediately called.

Haralabos Voulgaris: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Isaac Haxton: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

Voulgaris his hand was the favorite, but it was vulnerable for aces and kings. Haxton didn't hit on the {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}-flop, but the turn would be as good a card as it could come for the PokerStars Team Online Pro: {A-Diamonds}. The {10-Spades} on the river wasn't Voulgaris' last out, and the World's Top NBA Gambler hit the rail.

Mercier Shoves on Schemion

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

After Ole Schemion opened from the cutoff, Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier three-bet from the button. The blinds folded, Schemion called, and the flop fell {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Schemion checked, Mercier bet 39,000, and Schemion woke up with a check-raise to 92,000. Mercier wasted little time in moving all in for 402,000, and Schemion snap-folded.
