Jose Carlos Garcia Eliminated in 25th Place (€18,200)

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Jose Carlos Garcia
Jose Carlos Garcia

Jose Carlos Garcia open shoved for 176,000 and found one interested party. Chun Ho Law dared to call the all in holding {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} and was up against Garcia's {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

The {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} wasn't even all that bad for Garcia, he now had four outs to a straight. The {8-Hearts} on the turn killed those outs though, he could now split it with a jack or win it with another eight. The {5-Spades} on the river was a complete blank however and Garcia made his way to the pay out desk.

That means there are 24 players left and the tournament is on hold to redraw the tables.

Ekrem Sanioglu
Ekrem Sanioglu

Ekrem Sanioglu started out today as the chip leader has just been eliminated. It was all in preflop for him from the big blind with {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. His opponent was Florian Ribouchon who had raised it up pre flop from the under the gun position and wasn't willing to lay his {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} down.

The board didn't bring any help for Sanioglu at all with {7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. The chip leader is gone, long live the chip leader.

Maenpaa Bust Szecsi in Huge Pot

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Norbert Szecsi

The biggest pot of the tournament, worth 2,535,000 (four times the tournament average) just played out on the feature table and it was a brutal exit for Robert Szecsi, whilst Tatu Maenpaa is now the overwhelming tournament chip leader

After Eugene Katchalov opened to 25,000, Maenpaa three-bet to 75,000 from the small blind only for Szecsi to four-bet to 185,000 from the big blind. Katchalov folded, but Maenpaa went into the tank, both players started the hand with over 100 big blinds and Maenpaa elected to call.

On the {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop Maenpaa checked to Szecsi who continuation bet 145,000, Maenpaa took a look at his cards, then announced all-in for 1,101,000 total and Szecsi snap-called. He was all-in for 1,063,000.

Maenpaa: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Szecsi: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

According to the Free PokerNews Odds Calculator Szecsi was a 67% favourite to win the hand, however the {3-Hearts} turn meant that Maenpaa was now a 75% favourite to win this huge pot. However, Szecsi had some outs but he missed them all on the {9-Clubs} river. Maenpaa had Szecsi covered but only just and the shell shocked Hungarian exited stage left.

Day 4 Awaits Us

Triple Crown winner to be?
Triple Crown winner to be?

It's the fourth day of the PokerStars.fr European Poker Tour Deauville. It's the day the €10,000 High Roller starts but here we'll concentrate on the Main Event. 41 players remain and today we'll probably play five levels or down to 16. There's still three days to get to a winner so we're in no rush.

Ekrem Sanioglu is the man to beat. The Frenchman, originally from Turkey but living in France for 41 years, had 1.3 million to play with today. That's 130 big blinds, more than enough room for maneuver. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov is close behind with 1,194,000 and he will most likely be at the feature table today. Back in 2011 he was close for the Triple Crown as he finished third in the EPT Barcelona Martin Schleich eventually won. He's feeling the pressure, today we'll find out how he copes with that.

At 12 p.m. local time the tournament continues with level 20 (5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante). PokerNews is ready to bring you all the updates and deliver you the best photos and interviews with all your favorite players. Get that F5 finger ready!
