High Roller Day 2 Starts Soon

Marton Czuczor
Marton Czuczor

The penultimate day of the PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville High Rollers will begin at Noon. At least 53 players will begin play today, but as entry is still open until 15 minutes before cards are in the air we could see a few more players with deep pockets and a dream put up the €10,300 entry fee.

A record number of entries yesterday means the highest ever prize pool for the EPT Deauville High Roller. The total prize pool and pay-out structure will be confirmed later in the day once all entries and re-buys have finished and we will bring you those details as soon as they are released.

Day 1 ended with 113 entries into the tournament in the form of 95 unique players and 18 re-entries. These boys sure came to gamble (and they were all men, no women have entered the high roller this year) with over half the field eliminated inside 10 levels.

Leading the field is Marton Czuczor from Hungary who has 274,600. He qualified through a live satellite and hasn’t needed to re-buy. He is followed by Dario Sammartino (251,700) and Adrian Mateos Diaz 236,600.

Alex Kravchenko (84,600) is the only member of Team PokerStars going into Day 2 but there is still a possibility that Jake Cody and Bertrand `ElkY` Grospellier will decide to fire a second bullet and get a new stack of 50,000 which would be worth 25 big blinds. Other faces still in who will be familiar to most of our readers are Steve O’Dwyer, Kevin MacPhee and Toby Lewis.

PokerNews will bring you all the coverage right here as we play down to a final table before the action ends for the day. We expect plenty of fast paced action right from the start, so stay tuned for the latest chips counts, bust outs and all the news from the tables as some of the best players in the world fight it out for a huge pay day.

Alex Kravchenko. Seriously, would you mess with this man?

Team PokerStars Pro Alex Kravchenko has continued his good start to the day as he's just knocked out Zoltan Szabo.

Kravchenko raised to 4,400 preflop then called Szabo's shove for around 30,000 more and the former found himself in a dominant position.

Kravchenko: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Szabo: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board came out {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and Kravchenko has almost doubled his stack in the first 30 minutes.

Lewis Bluff Shoves Into a Straight

Toby Lewis
Toby Lewis

The board on the river read {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Toby Lewis shoved. He was immediately called by Kent Lundmark who tabled {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for the straight and Lewis’s cards were in the muck, all his chips heading to Lundmark.

A Lundmark Victory

Kent Lundmark

On the turn of a {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} board, Marcin Wydrowski checked and Kent Lundmark fired a bet of around 50,000. The Polish player check-raised all in and Lundmark instantly called.

Wydrowski: {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Lundmark: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Wydrowski had hit two pair on the turn but Lundmark had made a straight. The Dane avoided a nine or king on the {4-Hearts} river and doubled up to over 400,000.

Spinks Doesn't Believe Wydrowski

Jon Spinks
Jon Spinks

And rightfully so!

Jon Spinks opened the hijack with a raise to 11,500. Marcin Wydrowski on the button was the only caller.

{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades} on the flop and Spinks checked to his Polish opponent. Wydrowski bet a rather small 8,500 and Spinks called.

Spinks checked again on the {4-Hearts}-turn and Wydrowski checked behind.

Things got kind of interesting with the {7-Clubs} on the river. Spinks bet out 17,000 and without much time needed, Wydrowski raised it up to 55,00. Spinks frowned,... and called.

Wydrowski had just {K-Spades}{J-Hearts} to show for, Spinks took it down tabling {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop was{J-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Dovzhenko bet 65,000 and Losev called. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and Dovzhenko opted to check, Losev announced he was all in and Dovzhenko thought for a second, shrugged and called.

Dovzhenko: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Losev: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The river was the {K-Diamonds} and Losev's straight held firm. He's the big chip leader now.

Michele Dattani

Davidi Kitai abriu o pote com raise para 12,000 no botão e Michel Dattani fez re-raise para 25,000 na big blind. Kitai optou pela 4-bet para 88,000 e Dattani pensou um bocado antes de encostar a sua stack. Kitai fez rapidamente call.

Kitai: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Dattani: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

A board {2-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs} faz com que Kitai elimine o segundo português do dia.

Losev Still Leading As Hand-for-Hand Continues

Nikolay Losev
Nikolay Losev

They are now on the money bubble in the EPT10 Deauville High Roller where only the top 17 spots pay out. Nikolay Losev has been leading for much of the afternoon, having more than twice the chips of his nearest challenger until Davidi Kitai's recent chip boost. Meanwhile Losev's fellow Russian Alex Kravchenko is also still battling as the lone Team PokerStars Pro remaining. Read more on the PokerStars blog.

Ramin Hajiyev Bubbles PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville High Roller

Ramin Hajiyev bubbles the EPT Deauville High Roller 2014
Ramin Hajiyev bubbles the EPT Deauville High Roller 2014

After one hour and fifty minutes on the bubble a huge three-way all-in just occurred on the feature table, leading to the bubble bursting, one player having a monster stack and another being almost felted.

It folded to Dominik Panka on the button he raised to 16,000, Ramin Hajiyev three-bet to 41,000 from the small blind and Michael Tureniec then moved all-in for 301,000 total. Back on Panka he moved all-in for 264,000 and Hajiev called all-in behind for 245,000.

Panka: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Hajiev: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Tureniec: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

It was a massive cooler and the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure champion looked set for a massive triple up and the {7-Spades}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board kept the Pole in front, boosted him to 779,000, left Tureniec with just 37,000 and burst the bubble as it eliminated Hajiyev. Everyone left in is now guaranteed €18,000.

Análise de Mãos

Michael Tureneic found himself in a difficult position in this hand in part because he unluckily ran up against two opponents holding monsters. But he also made a choice to try to apply pressure on a couple of players with stacks nearly equal to his rather than wait to challenge a shorter-stacked opponent.
