Vanessa Selbst is at it again. She played out a hand to the end versus David Breitfus and it concluded with a double up for the latter.
Breitfus raised to 500 from under the gun and was called by the Team PokerStars Pro (hijack) and Mario Sanchez Cano (big blind). The flop fell and Breitfus' c-bet was only called by Selbst.
The line of the hand got interesting after the turn came down: Breitfus checked to face a 1,700 bet that he check-raised to 4,425. Selbst called and was checked to again on the river. She took the bait and bet 4,600 and called when Breitfus check-raised again, all in for 14,250 after about five minutes thought.
Breitfus opened for top set beating out Selbst's . She did not look happy at the end of the hand.
Julian Stuer had moved all-in for 24,075, on a board of , and the man with a pained expression on his face was Ari Engel. The pain eventually reduced to a smile, but this didn’t stop Engel tanking for a good five minutes.
Eventually, the player seated to the left of Engel called time and the American made the call. Stuer turned pocket aces and Engel’s hand went into the muck.
Engel, whose best EPT performance to date was a sixth place finish at EPT Prague in Season 7, now has 8,050 chips.
Marvin Rettenmaier just sat down in the EPT London Main Event, and he picked up a pot straightaway.
Robert Akery opened to 450 on the button, Rettenmaier called in the small blind, and Joris Springael called in the big blind. The flop came , Rettenmaier and Springael both checked, and Akery continued for 700. Only Rettenmaier called.
The turn was the , Rettenmaier knuckled again, and Akery tossed out 1,800. Rettenmaier called.
The completed the board, Rettenmaier checked a third and final time, and Akery surrendered, checking behind. Rettenmaier flipped over for a pair of sevens, and Akery flashed the before mucking.
It’s a three-pot bot and the aggressor is Annette Obrestad. Three people are contesting it and they are the aforementioned Norwegian, Barny Boatman and Konstantin Puchkov. The flop was and all three players checked. The turn was the , Puchkov checked, Boatman bet 2,000, Obrestad called and Puchkov check-raised to 11,600 leaving him just shrapnel behind.
Boatman has the look of a man who is about to commit murder. He groans and his hand turns into a dangerous looking claw. Luckily, the claw retracts and the hand goes into the muck. Obrestad also mucked her hand and the Russian scooped in the pot.
“Did you have pocket kings?” Boatman asked Obrestad.
The Norwegian nodded her head.
The table is shaping up nicely:
Seat 1: Steve Jelinek
Seat 2: Konstantin Puchkov
Seat 4: Barny Boatman
Seat 7: Annette Obrestad
Seat 10: Mike Watson
Annette Obrestad has been conspicuous in her absence from high profile tournaments in the last year or so but she's made a return here at EPT London, with no change in her level of aggression.
A multiway pot was checked around to her on a board and she bet 800 with just one caller. The did not appear to change anything and when it was checked to her a second time, she wasted little hesitation in betting 2,000 which was enough to win her the pot.
Vanessa Selbst is not hanging around today. Any time one of the reporting walks past her table she seems to be in action.
The last time she raised to 500 from the hijack and picked up Georgios Theodorou (button) and Mario Sanchez Cano (big blind) as callers on the way. The flop fanned and all three checked to the turn where Cano led out for 700. Selbst raised to 1,900 and both opponents called.
On the river the action was checked to Theodorou on the button who bet 6,000. Cano folded and Selbst made the call with for two pair. It was good as Theodorou had bluffed with .
Three players took a flop of , including Dominik Nitsche, Nandor Solyom, and Marc-Andre Ladouceur. The action checked to the German, who fired an assorted variety of chips. The amount looked like 2,200 or so, and only Ladouceur called.
The turn was the , Ladouceur checked again, and Nitsche moved all in for 11,000. Ladouceur called.
Nitsche:
Ladouceur:
Nitsche needed an ace, king, or diamond to survive, but the bricked on the river. He was eliminated, while Ladouceur now sits with around 50,000 chips.
