Stern Fires a Big Bet on the River

Nível 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Erik Seidel opened for 27,000 from the hijack and received a call from Sandor Demjan in the cutoff. When action reached Dani Stern on the button, he opted for a three-bet to 71,000. The blinds folded, as did Seidel, and Demjan made the call making it heads-up action to the {q-Clubs}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop.

Demjan checked and then wasted little time in calling when Stern bet 85,000. Both players then checked the {6-Diamonds} turn and Demjan checked for a third time on the {J-Hearts} river. Stern took his time before betting a hefty 300,000 and Demjan shot back in his chair. He counted out the chips to make the call, leaned back and considered what to do. It appeared he was going to commit, but then he grabbed his cards and tossed them to the dealer.

Gruissem Beats Quoss

Nível 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

From the button, Philipp Gruissem raised to 26,000. Fabian Quoss called from the big blind, and the flop came down {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Quoss checked, Gruissem bet 30,000, and Quoss called.

The turn paired the board with the {5-Spades}, and Quoss check-called a bet of 60,000 from Gruissem. The river then went check-check after the {10-Diamonds} landed on the river.

Quoss showed the {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, but lost to Gruissem's {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

In the Deep Freeze with Juha Helppi

Nível 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Dani Stern opened for 20,000 and got calls from Jean-Noel Thorel and Juha Helppi in the big blind. Three players saw a flop of {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and checked it round. The turn {6-Spades} was similarly checked and the river card was the {3-Hearts}. Helppi checked, Stern bet 52.000, Thorel folded and Helppi was at a loss what to do. It seemed like a good spot for Stern to steal and Helppi looked reluctant to fold. Did he have showdown value or was he even thinking about a raise? It was a tricky spot and the table stayed quiet as Helppi too nearky five minutes to eventually call. On seeing Stern’s {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} he’d obviously read the situation wrong and mucked.

Trip Tens For O'Dwyer

Nível 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

On a flop of {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, Steve O'Dwyer fired out a bet of 30,000. Mike Watson was O'Dwyer's lone opponent and he called the bet from the button.

The {6-Clubs} fell on fourth street and O'Dwyer bet 75,000. Watson called once again and the river brought the {A-Hearts}. O'Dwyer bet a third bullet of 135,000 and Watson flat called for a final time. O'Dwyer showed {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for trip tens and Watson mucked his hand.

O'Dwyer now has about 1.1 million in chips to Watson's 554,000.

Lunkin Scores Another Knockout; Jacobson Eliminated

Nível 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The flop read {7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and we caught up to find Vitaly Lunkin set Martin Jacobson all in for his last 242,000. Jacobson pondered for quite a bit of time before finally deciding to call for his tournament life.

Jacobson showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for sevens but was ultimately behind Lunkin's {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} for top pair of kings. The {8-Diamonds} came on the turn to give Jacobson a flush draw heading to the river, but it never materialized as the {6-Clubs} finished off the board. Jacobson was eliminated from play and Lunkin is now flirting with the two-million chip mark at 1.955 million.

Lunkin Drills Quads, Eliminates Sternheimer

Nível 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Philip Sternheimer opened the action with an UTG+1 raise to 22,000. Action trickled around to Vitaly Lunkin on the button and he popped it up to 56,000. The blinds let go of their hands and Sternheimer came right back over the top with a four-bet to 132,000. Lunkin went into the tank.

Roughly 90 seconds passed before Lunkin plopped out a stack of red T25,000 chips which amounted to 656,000 total. Sternheimer then thought for quite some time before finally announcing a flat call, leaving himself with some behind. There was a bit of confusion in the moment over how much the bet was and Sternheimer ended up moving all in in the dark with Lunkin quickly calling. The hands were turned over before the flop to show Sternheimer crushing Lunkin:

Sternheimer: {K-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Lunkin: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Lunkin made a comment regarding how Sternheimer possibly slow-rolled him there.

"Vitaly, you could have easily had aces there," said Sternheimer. "I respect your play."

Just as the conversation about a potential slow roll was getting started, Lunkin vaulted into the lead as the flop came down {9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Lunkin was able to drill quad queens which caused Sternheimer to sigh, stand up from the table, and put on his jacket. The turn and river brought the {9-Diamonds} and the {6-Spades}, respectively, and Sternheimer was eliminated from play. Lunkin dragged in the pot and is now sitting on about 1.655 million in chips.

Thorel Gives It Up

Nível 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Erik Seidel opened for 20,000 from the cutoff and received calls from Dani Stern and Jean-Noel Thorel, who were in the small and big blinds respectively. When the flop came down {k-Spades}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, Stern seized the initiative and led out for 45,000. Thorel looked suspicious and thought for about 45 seconds before raising it to 95,000.

Seidel quickly folded and Stern pushed back with a three-bet to 170,000 total. Thorel released his hand.
