Nitsche Makes Pollak Fold Two Pair

Nível 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Frenchman Benjamin Pollak limped under the gun for 1,600 which made for a small chain reaction of callers. The cut off joined in, Dominik Nitsche on the button called and the big blind checked his option. {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} on the flop and it was checked to Nitsche on the button. The German player bet 3,000 and the big blind quickly folded. Pollak raised it up to 11,000, the cutoff folded. Nitsche made the call however and the dealer had to do some work again. She put out the {9-Clubs}, making for four to a straight on the board. Pollak gently knocked on the table and released his hand rather quickly after Nitsche bet 16,500.

"You had two pair or something" Nitsche asked Pollak who admitted he had king jack. Nitsche told his French opponent he wasn't all that happy with the turn as he was stacking his new found chips.

Blain Getting it Quietly

Nível 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Full Tilt Poker Tour Ambassador Dermot Blain opened from mid position for 3,500 and found one caller in the big blind, Walid Bou Habib. They saw a flop of {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and both checked. Turn {8-Hearts} and they both checked. River card {k-Diamonds} and when Habib checked Blain bet 2,500 which was good enough to win another small stack. We haven’t seen Blain involved in any huge hands so far today but he steadily accumulating and looking calm and confident.

Big Pot Goes To Showdown But There Is No Showdown

Nível 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A big pot just played out on Table 22, it reached showdown but there was no showdown. There was already around 40,000 in the pot by the time the {6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop was deposited on the felt by the dealer. Action was three-way, there was one check to Simon Cuq, he bet 21,000 an in position Akin Tuna smooth called and Jan-Eric Schwippert folded.

The {Q-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river were both checked through and at showdown Cuq simply mucked meaning Tuna won the pot without having to show his hand. He's up to 245,000 whilst Cuq is down to 140,000

"Just the Hearts Then" - Lacay Busts Rettenmaier

Nível 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Marvin Rettenmaier
Marvin Rettenmaier

EPT San Remo winner Ludovic Lacay opened under-the-gun to 3,500 and got met by a reraise to 8,300 from multiple WPT winner Marvin Rettenmaier. David Williams in the cutoff and the players on the button, small blind and big blind quickly folded but Lacay had other plans in mind. He made it 21,000 and Rettenmaier made the call.

{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} on the flop and Lacay bet out 20,000. That bet didn't faze Rettenmaier though, who didn't need much time before calling. The turn brought the {6-Clubs} into play and Lacay checked. Rettenmaier bet out 33,200 and Lacay thought about it for awhile before announcing to be all in. Rettenmaier looked a tiny bit concerned but called almost immediately anyway. Lacay showed his {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and was in bad shape against Rettenmaier's flopped set with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

"Just the hearts then", Lacay said with a smirk on his face like he already knew what the river was going to be. The dealer wasted no time and burned a card before letting the {K-Hearts} hit the felt. The dealer began counting Lacay's stack but it was clear from the get go to the players involved that Lacay (130,000) had more than Rettenmaier (110,000).

Rettenmaier gently made effort to shove all his chips to the Frenchman and shook hands with the players at the table. No EPT title for the guitar playing German wonder boy in 2013. He surely will try to add one to his already impressive palmarès in 2014.

Volpe Loses With Set Over Set

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

An absolute cooler of a hand to tell you about between Paul Volpe and Anaras Alekberovas which also involved Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier. It was the Frenchman who got the action started, raising to 2,500 under-the-gun, next to act Alekberovas made it 6,300 to go, Volpe called from the hijack and when it got back to him ElkY made the call.

So three-way to a {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop and it'd be three-way to the {6-Spades} turn as Alekberovas bet 6,600 on the flop and both players called. On the turn ElkY checked, Alekberovas bet 17,400, Volpe raised it to 40,000, ElkY folded, Alekberovas moved all-in for a total of 41,400 and Volpe called the extra.

Volpe: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} - set of eights
Alekberovas: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} - set of jacks

The {7-Clubs} completed the board and Volpe shipped the chips to Alekberovas, he's dropped to 76,000 as a result, Alekberovas doubled to 132,000.
