Lunkin Busts a Shorty

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Vitaly Lunkin opened under-the-gun to 525 and the player in the small blind made the call. The big blind shoved allin for about 2,800 and Lunkin made the call. The small blind folded and Lunkin immediately showed his {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. The big blind slowly showed {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} but wouldn't get there: {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} | {3-Hearts} | {4-Diamonds}. Lunkin is doing well so far, he's nearing the double start stack mark.

The Luck of the Irish

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Ireland's Michael Sheridan just managed a double, but to be honest the title it a bit misleading as he got it in good.

We picked up the action with around 3,500 in the pot and a board reading {2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. France's Bernard Guigon had bet 1,000 from early position and Sheridan responded by moving all in for 7,400. Guigon thought for about a minute before calling with the {a-Spades}{q-Spades}, but it was no good as Sheridan held a flush with the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Sheridan needed to avoid a queen and five on the river, which is exactly what he did when the {3-Diamonds} blanked. Sheridan doubled to 18,500 on the hand while Guigon took a hit down to 22,000.

Small Swings for Spittles

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Antonis Poulengeris opened to 500, Ryan Spittles defended from the small blind and Dermot Blain folded his big blind. The flop was {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. Spittles checked and called a bet of 800 from Poulengeris. The both checked the {j-Diamonds} turn and saw a river card {3-Hearts}. Spittles took the lead and bet 1,125 and Poulengeris gave it up. After a brief chat with your PokerNews reporter about how much he was enjoying the whole Eureka Poker Festival in Prague, apart from Blain sat to his left beating up on him, and very much hoped to see us at the PCA, he was quickly back in action.

Spittles raised to 500 and got one caller in Latvian PokerStars player Dmitrijs Meless. A flop of {8-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and checked to Spittles who bet 650 and was called. They checked down the turn {k-Hearts} and river {k-Spades} and the {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} of Meless was good enough.

The Best Laid Plans

David Vamplew
David Vamplew

Vasili Firsau opened for 500 and Scotland’s David Vamplew almost certainly had his eye on all of Firasau’s chips when he three-bet to 1,000, as Firasau had just over 2,000 behind. The small blind folded and there was just one more player to get through. Nikov Dobromir Georgiev in the big blind had other ideas and cold four-bet to 3,500. Firsau folded and suddenly Vamplew’s plans had to change. Vamplew made the call in position and the two players saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts}. Georgiev checked and called when Vamplew bet 3,600. Turn {j-Hearts} went check / check as did the river {7-Hearts}. Georgiev turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a flush and Vamplew sighed and flicked his cards away in disbelief at how the hand had turned out.

Queens versus Kings versus Aces

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Seth Berger
Seth Berger

A player at the table made it 800 after which Dutchman Farid Chati two positions down made it 2,025. Maxim Lykov in the cutoff four bet to more than 5,000 and American Seth Berger cold five-bet allin for a little over 10,000. Action folded to Chati who announced to be allin as well and Lykov followed suit calling allin.

Chati showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, Lykov had {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} and Berger tabled {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The flop was a real rollercoaster as the {K-Diamonds} was in the window and the table looked in awe. The {A-Spades} followed though and now we could hear Chati breathe a sigh of relief. The last card on the flop was the {10-Diamonds} though, giving Berger a gutshot for the win all of the sudden. Lykov had just one out for the victory and Berger lost one after the {7-Diamonds} hit the turn as the {J-Diamonds} no longer would give him the win. The {5-Spades} fell on the river and Farid Chati eliminated two players at once.

"Two seats open" the dealer shouted well before Lykov and Berger had even exited the tournament area. Chati in the mean time was stacking about 77,000 in chips.

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Marcin Horecki is another player who made a deep run in the Eureka Poker Tour Main Event, the Pole finished seventh, winning €30,500.

He's up to 31,000 in this tournament and told me, "There's been lots of action I got kings in against ace-king pre-flop and we split the pot with a straight. I was down to 24,000 but eliminated a short stack with a set of queens against a flush draw which missed.
