Jay Tan has been moved over to Mike Watson’s table and the two have tangled in a couple of hands with Watson winning both.
We caught the action on the turn in the first on a board reading . With roughly 4,000 in the pot Watson had led out for 2,000 and Tan was just contemplating the call as we arrived.
Tan does call and just as we were maneuvering into a position to catch a better view of the action Watson led out for 5,000 and Tan folded before we could get a glimpse of the river.
Watson is in the big blind for the next hand and following a raise from a player sitting under the gun Tan called in middle position and Watson also made the call to take the hand three-way to a flop.
Watson checked the original raiser led out for 1,500 and both Tan and Watson called.
The brought checks from Watson and the under the gun player and Tan reached down for chips, betting out 4,200 in total. Watson called and the original raiser folded to take the hand heads-up.
Watson checked the river and Tan checked it right back. As the last aggressor, she has to show first and turned over for king-high and a missed heart draw. Watson rolled over for top pair and raked in another pot. He’s now sitting on 60,000 while Tan dropped to around 90,000.
Mike Watson opened to 1,200 from under the gun and picked up two callers taking the action three-way to a flop of which all three players check.
The turn brought a check from the small blind and Watson led out for 3,000. The player sitting to Watson’s direct left folded and the small blind check-raised all-in for 13,400. Watson did not take long to call, flipping over for two pairs, but is trailing to the small blind’s flopped Broadway straight.
No ace or ten hit the river and the shortstack doubled to 32,000 while Watson dropped to 54,000.
Tom Grigg and James Broom will have to be content with little more than a refund after splitting a recent pot.
With the flop showing Grigg checked under the gun before Broom took a stab at it for 2,000 on the button. Grigg tossed in a call and players went to the turn. The action then went check-check and once again when the river appeared.
Grigg and Broom both tabled ace-queen and the dealer began dividing up the pot.
“Position should win there. He’s a better player” Broom said with a laugh while pointing at Grigg.
Thomas Muehloecker raised to 1,200 from middle position. The player in the small blind then moved all in for his remaining 3,400 forcing the big blind out. Muehloecker then called.

The board ran out to see Muehloecker spike a ten on the flop and take down the pot with a pair.
On a flop of Winfred Yu bet out 2,200 from middle position and was called by his opponent in the hijack. The third player in the hand, seated on the button, folded.
The turn brought the and Yu slid out 6,300. His opponent then reached for his chips and slid out a stack of 5,000-chips totalling 60,000 which had Yu covered. Yu called with 23,000 in his stack.

Yu had flopped a set of fours but was turned by his opponent who made a straight.
No repeat would come on the river as the completed the board sending Yu to the rail.
Just before the break Ami Barer was eliminated from the tournament. Tony Hachem was more than happy to fill us in on the details.
The action started with the 2014 champion raising to 3,000 from under the gun before the player in middle position moved all in over the top. The decision folded back around to Barer who called for his remaining 9,000.

Barer had the best hand until the board ran out giving his opponent the more dominant full house and therefore winning hand.
