Lucky Break for Boom?

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

An interesting scenario just played out of table 27 involving Tony Bloom and Lita Hsu.

They were heads up and at the turn of a {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board. Hsu checked and Bloom said he announced all in but put a 5k chips in before his two stacks of smaller denomination chips. The dealer and the rest of table didn't hear the verbal declaration so the dealer ruled only the 5k chip would count.

The river came as the {9-Hearts} and Hsu set Bloom in for his last 28,300. Bloom smiled, shrugged and folded.

The 2004 Champ Gets Lucky to Stay Alive

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Tony Bloom, who won this event back in 2004, shoved his last 28,700 all in from middle position and received a call from Alexander Lynskey in the cutoff. The button and blinds all folded and Bloom discovered the bad news.

Bloom: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Lynskey: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Lynskey had Bloom dominated, but the {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop proved kind to the former champ by pairing his kicked. Neither the {5-Hearts} turn nor {7-Diamonds} river helped Lynskey, and he sent some chips over to Bloom.

It looks like the previous hand where Bloom tried to move all in but didn't do it properly may be a blessing in disguise.

Kodie Drew the Short Straw

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

James Rann admitted he "Ran like God!" on Day 2 to ten times his stack on the day, and he was just sat shaking his head in disbelief as his run-good continued today to eliminate Kodie Drew.

The two players were in the blinds and all the chips went in preflop, Drew holding a short stack at the time.

Rann: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Drew: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The board ran {5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs} to make Rann two pair.

Last Year's Third-Place Finisher Eliminated

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Jake Balsiger
Jake Balsiger

Jake Balsiger, who finished third in this very event last year, began the day on a short stack of 35,400. The former World Series of Poker October Niner managed to run that up to a formidable stack, but his comeback came crashing down courtesy of Singapore's Don Mishra.

There was around 90,000 already in the pot and a board reading {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} when a back-and-forth raising war resulted in Balsiger getting his last 100,000 or so all in and being called by Mishra.

Mishra: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Balsiger: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Balsiger held top pair top kicker, but he was drawing dead as Mishra had flopped a set. The meaningless {A-Clubs} was put out on the river for good measure, and Balsiger wished the table luck before taking his leave. There will be no back-to-back cashes for Jakey.

Meanwhile, Quoc Nguyen was also eliminated from the tournament.

Graham Among Recent Eliminations

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We missed the elimination of poker pro Jarred Graham, but we do know he fell after his pocket aces were cracked by pocket tens. The chips went in preflop, but Graham's opponent spiked a Broadway straight on the river to put an end to Graham's day.

Meanwhile, Joakim Backlund and Ismael Bojang have also been eliminated from the Main Event.

Rast Doubles

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Rahul Byrraju has doubled Brian Rast up to 262,000 but he's still sitting pretty on 370,000.

The hand waited until the turn before the fireworks went off. The board read {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Rast was put to a decision for his remaining 95,000. He called pretty quickly with {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for two pair and flush draw, ahead of Byrraju's {j-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. The river came as the {2-Spades} and Rast was all smiles.

Don't Jinks the Title Defense

Nível 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

"The chips went in gradually," Billy "The Croc" Argyros informed us after we arrived to Table 11 following Brayden Jinks' elimination.

From what we could piece together, Jinks shoved his remaining stack on the river with a board reading {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. The defending champ, Ami Barer, called him with the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, which bested the {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} of Jinks. Chalk another knockout to the Canadian.
