Jordan Westmorland limped from middle position for 300 and action folded around to the small blind who completed and the big blind who checked his option. The dealer fanned and both blinds checked to Westmorland. He took this opportunity to fire 700 into the middle and just like that both of his opponents released their cards. Westmorland is currently sitting on about 19,000 in chips.
Xuan Liu is in the field today and ready to make a deep run in this event.
Liu, no stranger to success on the tournament circuit, has final tabled two major PokerStars sponsored live events since she began playing live poker. Liu's first major cash came back in 2011 when she made the final table of the EPT Sanremo Main Event. Liu came just short of making it to heads up play when she was eliminated in third place. Still, she collected a massive payday of $524,705 for her stellar performance.
Less than a year later, Liu once again showcased her tournament poker prowess when she added a fourth-place finish at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event to her resumé. She pocketed another $600,000 for this performance.
Today, we found Liu once again scooping up chips and prepping herself for what could be a deep run in this tournament. The flop read and there were two checks to Liu. She bet 1,000 and the player in the small blind called. The big blind folded and they were heads up to the turn.
The dealer put out the out on the turn and both players tapped the table. The river was the and action was once again checked to Liu. She fired 2,100 and her opponent called. Liu rolled over for a rivered straight and her opponent mucked his cards. Liu is now sitting on a stack of about 35,500.
The flop read and PokerStars Team Online member Naoya Kihara was heads up in the hand. His opponent came out swinging with a bet of 850. Kihara would not be pushed around, however, as he quickly cut out a raise to 2,100 total. Kihara's opponent tanked for about thirty seconds before finally decided to relent and award Kihara the pot.
A player in middle position raised to 800 and Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang called from the hijack. The player in the cutoff called, too, and a flop followed.
The middle-position player bet 1,575 and only Huang called to see the turn, which both checked. The river was checked as well and the middle-position player tabled .
Huang took a lot his cards one last time, but mucked.
We missed the action, but Sam Grafton was kind enough to recap his final hand for us.
The player under the gun opened with a raise and the next two players to act called. Grafton shipped his short stack all in and the original raiser called. The player under the gun plus one folded but the next player called as well.
Grafton:
Under the Gun:
+2:
Grafton paired his queen on the river but it was all for naught as the player under the gun turned a third ten and scooped the pot. Grafton was eliminated from play and is currently having a good time railing Joseph Cheong who is also sporting a short stack.
