We asked 888Poker's Natalie Hof how she was getting on and her answer told the story.
"I have maybe 8,000. I bluffed into the nuts."
Not the best plan, and Hof will have to go on the attack when she gets back from her break. The popular pro has recently returned from two months on holiday in beautiful Bali. Getting back in the game will need to happen sooner rather than later if she's to avoid a re-entry in this first tournament back.
The remaining 200 players on Day 1c have taken their first leave, with 15 minutes to chew over hand details, grab some food and drink, or perhaps walk down to the beach and soak up some sun while gazing at the yachts.
We're going to check out some updated chip counts for you all while they get their relaxation on, and we'll be back with live updates as soon as the players are ready to resume.
Peter Jaksland raised to 500 and was called two ways by Jorge Ruiz Garcia and Jesper Hansen. On the flop, the action checked to Jaksland and he shoved for the last 5,775. Ruiz Garcia called and Hansen then moved all in with Ruiz Garcia quickly calling all in for less.
Jesper Hansen:
Jorge Ruiz Garcia:
Peter Jaksland:
"I need a new stack," Jaksland joked. The turn changed nothing much, and the river gave Ruiz Garcia the better two pair. He sent Jaksland to the rail and doubled through Hansen for 14,125.
Younesse Oualgasi doubled up when he was all-in with on a board of [Js28sTs9s] and called by Swedish sensation and 888Poker Pro Sofia Lovgren, who held .
Straight flush over second nut flush, then, for the resurgent Oualgasi, while Lovgren has some serious rebuilding to do, down to a third of her starting stack after almost three levels.
With 224 entries today, we have reached 500 entries for the inaugural 888Live Festival Main Event here in Barcelona. Congratulations all round and the players now see that prize-pool increase with every late registration or re-entry.
Opening to 500 pre-flop from early position, Cate Hall got three callers to a flop. That saw all four players check, but on the turn, Remy Pierre made it 1,100 from the small blind and Hall called, along with [Removed:247] in the cut-off position.
The river of saw Pierre check, so Hall bet 5,000. [Removed:250] wanted to chat.
"A big bluff? Or a big bet?"
Hall reacted only to throw an invisible question mark into the air via a solitary raised eyebrow. It's a skill. Both players folded, Hall raked in a timely pot and continues her uptick here on Day 1b. Although the chatty [Removed:250] tried to engage Hall in some hand analysis, Hall only participated to ask how much he would have called, and he said 2,000. Hall banked that information too, and although [Removed:250] is the chip leader at the table, that hand was very satisfactory for the 888Poker player.
Manuel Sanchez Morito had lost most of his stack with pocket kings against the pocket tens of Marco Regonaschi, who spiked a set, and was eliminated soon after. Francois Evard on his second bullet three-bet to 950 and three players called.
On the flop, Sanchez Morito moved all in for his last 1,950 and Jaime Victor Sanchez Morito was the only caller.
Manuel Sanchez Morito:
Jaime Victor Soler Puig:
The turn blanked, but the river improved Soler Puig to a pair of aces and reduced the stack of Sanchez Morito to zero.
One table in the cash game area is being used and that features Thierry Gogniat, Max Rotko, Andre Filipe Quelhas and William Kassouf. A three-way flop of with 4,700 in the middle, Gogniat checked and Kassouf bet 4,500. That pushed out both opponents and the Brit claimed the pot.
