Day 1c of Event #5: €550 NLH COLOSSUS Starts at 6 P.M. CET

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier Wins Event #15 Colossus
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier Wins Event #15 Colossus

The second starting flight of Event #5: €550 NLH COLOSSUS gets underway today on Thursday, November 25 at 6 p.m. CET at King's Resort, Rozvadov.

Day 1b is currently underway with 209 players remaining from a total of 413 entries, with Loana Serreli being the current Day 1b chip leader so far.

Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier was the last player standing in the same event in 2019, picking up €190,375 ($211,000) for the win. Grospellier was awarded his second WSOP bracelet for the feat, it was also his first at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE).

Other notables who made the money in the event last time round include five time WSOP winner Shaun Deeb (11th - €12,453/$13,802), Viktor Blom (€2,812/$3,116) and WSOPE whizz Martin Kabrhel (396th - €405/$448).

All Day 1 starting flights (B-G) will end after 18 levels, with blinds increasing every 30 minutes. Players will receive a starting stack of 25,000 chips for their €550 buy-in and will get a 15 minute break after every four levels or color ups. Day 2 and Day 3 will see the blinds increase to 40 minutes intervals.

Each Day 1 flight is single re-entry so if that 25,000 stack were to evaporate, players can have another shot at making Day 2.

There is a 500 player cap for each starting flight and registration opens three hours before each flight starts.

Day 2 will see all the survivors from the seven flights merge into one field on Sunday, November 28. The second stage of the event will see the field play down to the final table. The nine finalists on Day 3 will then be playing for the WSOP bracelet and first-place prize, which takes place on Monday, November 29.

Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all the updates from King's Resort!

Gudmundur Sigurjonsson, on the button, bet 5,400 on the {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop after being checked to by Andreas Kuecuekkaplan and Stephan Kohlstetter. Only Kuecuekkaplan called.

Kuecuekkaplan checked again and Sigurjonsson, the shorter stack of the two, moved all-in for 15,200 on the {9-Clubs} turn. Kuecuekkaplan seemed to have a decision on his hands and thought for a minute before calling.

Gudmundur Sigurjonsson: {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Andreas Kuecuekkaplan: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

"What were you waiting for? Slowroll?" asked the at-risk player to which there was a mumbled reply.

The {3-Diamonds} river sealed the check mark for Kuecuekkaplan to climb up the chip counts.
