The penultimate flight which was Day 1G of Event #1: €550 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold'em finished after eighteen levels of play and was the biggest up till now with 820 entries which 85 players who managed to find a bag at the end of the day. Adding these entries to the tally, the total number of entries catapulted to 2,153 which meant that the €1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool was surpassed before Day 1H even started. Including the 122 surviving players over the first six starting days, the tournament now has 207 players already making it to Day 2 and more to be added from Day 1H.

The Day 1G chip leader honor goes to Daniel Boros who was steadily building a stack all day long and was really noticed towards the end of the day as he eliminated Sharvan Chhabria and then kept on winning hand after hand. Boros bagged 771,000. Runner-up in the chip counts is Italy’s Davide Della Longa with 699,000 who managed to river a straight to crack Vojtech Susta’s aces to bust him on his first bullet and double up through Per Hansen.

Closing the podium for Day 1G is Netanel Amedi with 642,000. Amedi had a significantly better day today than yesterday as he registered late in Day 1E and went up and then down in quite a short time. Also through to Day 2 include Sergei Petrushevskii (641,000), 2018 WSOP Circuit Marrakech Champion Vladimir Shabalin (512,000), Viliyan Petleshkov (468,000), Marcin Chmielewski (312,000), Rakesh Lalwani (289,000), Milad Oghabian (274,000), and Eyal Bensimhon (244,000) who already has 2 WSOP Circuit Rings but wants to add a bracelet to that collection. He finished as the runner-up in the WSOP Circuit Main Event last week but will be gunning for a better finish in the COLOSSUS.

The top 123 players were paid and the bubble burst at the end of Level 17. Alexandre Viard was the unlucky one to be the coined the bubble boy when he ran his ace-trey suited into the ace-king of Melvin Hendriks. Players who cashed but failed to bag include Zoltan Szabo, Avi Hamo, Gordon Kuhnel, Tomas Rous, Michal Mrakes, Lasse Frost, Yang Zhang, and Roland Israelashvili.

Action of the day

The day started with more than 300 players ready to battle it out on the felt today and that number grew rapidly all day long. Dailbor Hill was one of the first to eliminate a player. Maurizio Cola had turned a flush but Hill made a full house on the river. Cola managed to bag on his second bullet but Hill was sent away in the end. The guarantee was reached during the fifth level of the day already while more players were still registering and reentering.

One of the players responsible for some others having to reenter was Vivien Nagy who first eliminated Martin Schmidkunz with jack-nine suited. She turned a flush against Schmidkunz’s pocket eights. The hand right after she took care of Markus Sturz who shoved his pocket queens on a jack-high flop while Nagy had flopped the set of jacks. She was eliminated a few hours later and didn’t reach the money stages.

Petleshkov was short during Level 9 but managed to find a double with ten-nine against the pocket queens of Beiyan Yu for his last 6 big blinds and from there on he kept running his stack up to bag for Day 2. Chmielewski flopped quads in Level 10 and managed to get paid by Moncef Karoui who had a full house. Petersen managed to double up for 16 big blinds through Kevin Barkow with ace-four against queens by hitting an ace on the flop. Petersen then eliminated Rene Crha when he found king-queen suited twice in a row.

Dutch Boyd ran his pocket queens into the aces of Oghabian, Timo Kamphues ran his ace-king into the aces of Nika Kakoishvili. Lukas Vagner doubled up on the bubble through Sebastian May with six-seven when he shoved after having flopped the straight. After Hendriks burst the bubble when he eliminated Viard, the bust-outs were flying around in the last level of the day before play ended and they could all bag up for Day 2.

Day 2 will kick off at 3 PM local time and the PokerNews live reporting team will be there to bring you the usual updates live from the floor!
