Ali Fatehi
Ali Fatehi

On the turn, the board read {3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Steffen Sontheimer had 400,000 in front of him. Ali Fatehi check-raised all in for 1,350,000 and Sontheimer didn't like it.

"Count please," he asked. Sontheimer took another thirty seconds before making up his mind.

"I cannot fold this," he said.

Ali Fatehi: {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Steffen Sontheimer: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Sontheimer was way ahead and the {K-Diamonds} on the river didn't help Fatehi.

"I really thought he had it," Sontheimer said afterwards.

Savinelli Shows the Bluff

Nível 9 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Ognjen Sekularac opened to 100,000 from under the gun and Carlo Savinelli called on the button. The flop came {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Sekularac continued for 90,000. Savinelli made the call and the {q-Hearts} landed on the turn.

Sekularac checked and Savinelli seized the opportunity to bet 140,000. Sekularac, however, check-raised to 290,000 and Savinelli called. The river double-paired the board with the {q-Spades} and Sekularac checked. Savinelli fired a large bet of 775,000. Sekularac quickly mucked his hand and Savinelli proceeded to show {j-}{9-} for a missed straight draw.

Boeree Spikes an Ace to Double Up

Nível 9 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

On a flop reading {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and around 270,000 in the pot, Christoph Vogelsang checked from the big blind to Liv Boeree who bet 100,000 from early position. Vogelsang check-raised to 325,000 and Boeree shipped all in for 900,000. Vogelsang called and the hands were face up.

Liv Boeree: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Christoph Vogelsang: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Vogelsang was in the lead with the only pair and a straight draw. The {9-Hearts} on the turn was no help to Boeree but the {a-Diamonds} on the river paired her ace and gave Boeree the best hand. Her hands went up in the air with a big smile on her face as she was finally able to win a pot. Boeree doubled up to over starting stack and remains alive towards the end of Day 1.

Table Talk: Selling Action for High Rollers

Nível 9 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Rob Yong
Rob Yong

"I have a question," said Rob Yong to his table, "If you had to bet how many people in this field had 100% of their own action, how many would you say?"

The table, which included Albert Daher, WSOP 2017 final tablist Jack Sinclair, Steffen Sontheimer and Kenny Hallaert thought.

"You probably have," said Hallaert to Yong.

"What do you mean!" Yong replied with a smile, "I sold 95%! I'm going for 11 players."

"I take the under," said Hallaert, "Even people who are playing for fun give 5% to their friends or something."

"People moan about players in these high roller tournaments selling their action to 10 people or something," said Yong, "But that just means 10 people are railing one guy!"

Gruissem's Overbet Gets Called

Nível 9 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} with around 200,000 in the middle, Philipp Gruissem led out for 80,000 from the big blind. Christoph Vogelsang called from middle position and the {6-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Both players checked to the {q-Clubs} on the river and Gruissem fired a huge over-bet of 600,000. Vogelsang went into the tank and looked more agonized with every second that passed. He finally made the call and Gruissem tabled {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} for top two pair and Vogelsang's cards hit the muck.
