Event #3: €5,300 Pot-Limit Omaha

Dia 1 Iniciado

Time For Some PLO!

Just under 45 minutes from now, the first of two Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe will be kicking off. Last year, this tournament attracted 120 players with Jeff Lisandro coming out on top winning a total of £159,514.

We are expecting a stacked field with many of today's greats like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and November Nine finalist Ben Lamb. We are expecting to play eight levels of 60 minutes with a short 20-minute break after every two levels. There is a 30-minute break scheduled after four levels, but since that break got extended to 60 minutes for the first two tournament we expect the same to happen today.

Each player today will be starting with 5,000 in tournament chips and have two additional add-ons worth 5,000 each. The add-ons can be put into use at any point during the first four levels. Make sure you follow all the updates right here on PokerNews as we bring you all the action!

Some Changes

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

The World Series of Poker website lists this event as a Triple Chance, but WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel just announced that because of the French law the tournament is just a regular freeze out. Players who want to unregister because of this can do so before they get dealt their first hand.

The tournament will be played in Majestic 2, which is the secondary room of the hotel. This means your bloggers will have a bit more walking to do throughout the day, but since we're in top shape that shouldn't be an issue! Let's play some PLO!

Familiar Faces

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

The hallways are crowded and among the players trying to find their table we've already spotted Tom Dwan, Andrew Robl, Dan Shak, 2010 WSOP-E Main Event winner James Bord and many many more. This tournament is going to be jam packed with great players!

The Devilfish Tested In The Very First Hand

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

How is this for a table. Seat 4: Dave "Devilfish" Ulliot, Seat 5: Tom Dwan and Seat 7: Jason Mercier.

The Devilfish limped in early position and was joined by four more players. Five of them saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} and The Devilfish bet 1,000 and he received just one-caller, Marcello Marigliano seated on the button.

Turn: {8-Spades}

The Devilfish bet 2,700 and Marigliano raised to 10,700 and the fish had something to think about. After a few minutes Marigliano asked the Devilfish if he wanted to know what he had.

"You are French, you could have f*&xing anything!" Said the Devilfish.

"I am not French. You don't know me. I am a little bit crazy," Marigliano replied.

The Devilfish folded his hand, and showed the nut broadway straight, which prompted some debate around the table. The Devilfish later told us that he did not have the flush draws to bakc up his hand.
