Shady Chouity Drops a Six

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Gaetan Deneuve opened the pot with a raise, and Mark Shepherd three-bet shoved for 7,500. Nicolas Choutiy called all in for 3,700 from the big blind, and Deneuve went ahead and matched the bet with a chance at the double knockout. Cards up, gents.

Deneuve: {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts}
Shepherd: {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}
Chouity: {6-Clubs} {6-Spades}

The {Q-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} flop was clean for Chouity, still in the lead with his pair of sixes.

Turn: {6-Diamonds}.

That'll do it. Chouity had locked up the double with a set, and now Shepherd needed to pair up to stave off elimination. He could not. The river {2-Spades} is the last card of his day, the side pot going over to Deneuve to mitigate his losses.

It's a triple up for Chouity, though, up to 13,500 now.

Behbehani and Palethorpe Clash Aces Against Queens

Salman Behbehani (Day 1b)
Salman Behbehani (Day 1b)

From middle position, Adam Palethorpe raised to 2,400. Action then folded to Salman Behbehani on the button. He three-bet to 5,900. The blinds folded before play moved back over to Palethorpe. He took some time and then four-bet, making it 12,200 to go. That didn't phase Behbehani, who slid out a five-bet. Originally, Behbehani had five-bet to less than what he could. Per the rules in France, Behbehani had to double the total amount in front of him and make it 24,400. The dealer explained this and he did just that, reraising to 24,400.

Palethorpe thought for a minute, got an estimated count on his opponent's remaining stack and then announced that he was all in. Behbehani snap-called and tabled the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Palethorpe held the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Spades} to give Behbehani the pot. He was all in preflop for 54,800 and is now up to 113,000. Palethorpe was crushed back to 25,000 in chips.

ITo give you some information about Behbehani, he's part of another "November Nine," but it's not one associated with the World Series of Poker. Behbehani made the Partouche Poker Tour €8,500 Main Event final table back in September, but the final table won't be played out until November 12. Behbehani's sitting third in chips and Sam Trickett is the chip leader. Last year, Vanessa Selbst won the event. Other notables at the final table include Roger Hairabedian and Alexander Dovzhenko.

MacPhee Hits 88 MPH

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

Kevin MacPhee got the last 13,500 of his chips into the middle preflop, likely open-shoving his 11bb stack. Action came around to Maxence Dupont, and he made the call to put MacPhee at risk. The news was not good for "ImaLuckSac".

Showdown
MacPhee: {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades}
Dupont: {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

MacPhee would fail to find a third eight, but he'd still manage to drag the double. The board ran {10-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, and the straight to the eight moves MacPhee back to 30,000 once again. That's still a bit below the chip average, but it's just fine considering where he was a few minutes ago.

No Limping Here

Action folded to In Albon Pascal on the button and he limped in. In the small blind, Dimitri Durand completed the bet and then Boban Stevanovic raised to 5,700 in the big blind. Both limpers folded and Stevanovic won the pot.

"Chip Leading Pot"

From under the gun, Carlo Savinelli raised to 2,500. Action folded to Salman Behbehani on the button and he made the call. After the two blinds folded, Savinelli announced, "Chip-leading pot!" to reference the fact that both players had extremely large stacks.

The dealer dealt the {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop and Savinelli bet 3,500. Behbehani made the call to see the {K-Spades} land on the turn. Both players checked and the river was the {6-Hearts}. Savinelli bet 8,000 and Behbehani mucked.

Bye, Bye, Bonding

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Lars Bonding - out
Lars Bonding - out

We missed the hand as it played out, but Vanessa Selbst was kind enough to fill us in on the manner in which she sent Lars Bonding off to the exit.

It began with Selbst opening with a raise in early position, and Bonding three-bet shoved for about 22,000 or so. Selbst quickly called with the covering stack, and her ace-king was dominating Bonding's ace-jack.

The flop came {Q-} {5-} {2-} with two spades, and Bonding had the ace of spades to try and chase down a running flush. The turn was the best card in the deck for him, the {J-Spades} to give him the pair and the flush draw. Now Selbst needed to find one of the two non-spade kings in the deck to take the pot.

And sure enough, she found it. Selbst can't remember which suit it was, but the {K-} on the river was not spades, and it allowed her to re-suck to the win and send Bonding packing.

Selbst is closing in on the century mark, sitting with about 96,000 now.

A New Leader Emerges

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Gianluca Speranza
Gianluca Speranza

We just caught the tail end of this pot, but it's worth a mention.

When we walked up to the table, the board showed {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}, and there was about 22,000 in the pot. Toby Lewis checked, and Gianluca Speranza took his cue to bet 13,600. That sent Lewis deep into the think tank, and he's spend the next few minutes agonizing over the decision for more than a quarter of his remaining stack. He took long enough that Speranza eventually asked for the clock.

It was called, and about 45 seconds into the countdown, Lewis mustered the courage to plunk the call into the pot. Speranza showed up {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} for the flush, and Lewis quietly mucked, leaving himself about 36,000.

Speranza is doing much better than that. He's the big stack in the room by our eyes, sitting pretty with about 149,000 now.

Toth Busts to Brossolo

Richard Toth eliminated
Richard Toth eliminated

From under the gun, chip leader Carlo Savinelli raised to 2,500. Action then folded to Richard Toth in the hijack seat. He reraised all in for 36,200. In the next position, the cutoff seat, Yann Brosolo reshoved for 59,200. Action folded back to Savinelli and he count a count on both stacks. He then folded two jacks face up. Toth held the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Brosolo the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Toth was eliminated. Savinelli would have won the hand if he stuck around, he opted to fold preflop.

It's also of note that Salman Behbehani was on the button this hand and said he folded two tens.
