Ott Adds a Million

Nível 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Paul Senat opened the cutoff for 200,000 and called as small blind Dan Ott three-bet to 525,000.

Ott checked on {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Senat bet 525,000 with 1,530,000 behind. Ott moved all in and Senat folded after about four minutes in the tank.

"I didn't want to see any more cards," Ott said as the next hand got underway.

"I did," Senat replied.

"I know you did, I didn't!" Ott said.

"What, are you selfish?" Senat ended the conversation with a hint of a grin on his face.

Player Interview: Ian Johns

Nível 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Ian Johns
Ian Johns

Ian Johns racked up seven World Series of Poker cashes leading up to this event, all of them top 20 finishes. However, each of those finishes were painfully short of a final table; Johns finished 10th, 11th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 12th, and 12th.

The three-time bracelet winner is deep yet again at the 2017 WSOP, this time on the biggest stage in the Main Event. PokerNews caught up with Johns to reflect on his summer.

"While I'm happy with my results, and that I kept putting myself in a position to win, the summer was a bit bittersweet," Johns said. "I make my living playing poker, so all I can do is play well and make good decisions. My deep runs prove that I've done that."

Some players chase bracelets, some chase history, and pretty much all of them chase the money. Which matters most to Johns?

"My job is to make money, so bracelets were never the priority, but after winning two bracelets last year it does make me a little more motivated to win more," said Johns. "I definitely had some chances this year to do that, but it just didn't work out this time. I played well, and that's about all I can do."

The summer is not over, however, and there is still one major prize up for grabs. Even though Johns is primarily a limit player, he looks forward to the Main Event each year. And while for the first half of the tournament he's been sitting on the short side of things, he's displayed a patience that many no-limit players lack.

"Normally, I'm never going to be that player that moves a lot of chips around quickly. But the first few days I was a little more active trying to get something going. But basically, I'm just chugging along. The goal right now is to make it to the end of the day. And with my stack, that means I can't really get out of line."

Johns, of course, is hoping his summer lasts a little bit longer. And considering he's never cashed this event before, making it deep might help ease any disappointment from this summer.

Neil Patel
Neil Patel

Kenny Hallaert was in middle position and raised to 180,000. Action folded to Neil Patel in the hijack and he moved all in for 1,500,000, sending Hallaert into the tank. After taking some time to evaluate things, Hallaert called.

Patel: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Hallaert: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out clean for Patel when the {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} was spread across and Patel got the double to move up over 3,000,000 in chips.

Sebastien Comel Eliminated in 79th Place ($85,482)

Nível 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Sebastien Comel
Sebastien Comel

Action folded to Artan Dedusha in the cutoff, and he bumped it up to 200,000. Sebastien Comel sat in the small blind, and he moved all in for his final 916,000. "Well, I guess I have to call," Dedusha said as he slide some chips forward.

Dedusha: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Comel: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop of {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} gave Comel top pair, but at the same time it gave Dedusha an extra out, as all the tens would work for him now. Sure enough, the {10-Spades} hit the turn, and Comel could only hope to salvage a chop now. The {5-Hearts} completed the board instead, and Dedusha scored the knockout to up his stack to 4.3 million.

Ghaneian's Table Talk

Nível 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Robin Hegele is just under 11 million now at Table 719. Connor Drinan and Dario Sammartino are the short stacks at the table, and Arash Ghaneian, though short, is having a great time.

"We should talk about politics," Ghaneian said jokingly. "What do you think about Trump?"

"No, no, no," Hegele and Justas Vaiciulionis said.

"What about God?" Ghaneian continued the joke.

"Nah, we should talk about sports and all-ins, and women respectively. No locker room talk here."
