Crivello Busts O'Dea With a Straight Flush

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Eoghan O'Dea Eliminated by a Straight Flush
Eoghan O'Dea Eliminated by a Straight Flush

Frank Crivello raised to 80,000 from under the gun and Eoghan O'Dea just called from one seat over. The flop fell {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Crivello continued for 125,000, which O'Dea raised to 300,000. Crivello moved all in and O'Dea called.

O'Dea: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Crivello: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

O'Dea was marginally ahead, but had to dodge a lot of outs in order to double. It was all over after the {8-Diamonds} turn, giving Crivello a straight flush, and O'Dea even made the meaningless second-nut flush with the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Only then O'Dea realized what had just happened and the Irishman headed to the payout desk.

Crivello stacked the chips and said, "You know you are running good when you hit a straight flush."

Superman Strikes Again, Eliminates Joe Hanrahan

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Jonathan Dwek
Jonathan Dwek

The cameras rushed over to the table where Jonathan Dwek (dressed as Superman) was in the tank, facing an all-in shove from Joe Hanrahan for 785,000 on the turn. After the hand, Dwek filled us in on the details leading up to that moment.

Hanrahan had raised to 65,000 in the cutoff and Dwek three-bet to 210,000 in the small blind. The big blind folded and Hanrahan called. On the {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Dwek continued for 250,000 and Hanrahan raised it to 625,000. Dwek called and the turn was the {5-Clubs}, pairing the board. Dwek checked and Hanrahan moved all in for 785,000.

Dwek went into the tank and thought over the decision as the cameras pointed at him. He eventually put forward a stack to call, and Hanrahan looked less than thrilled.

Hanrahan: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Dwek: {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Dwek's two pair, sevens and fives, was ahead, but Hanrahan could win with a diamond, an ace, or a queen.

The river was the {7-Hearts}, improving Dwek to sevens full, and Hanrahan was eliminated.

Gyeongbyeong Lee Fades To Scoop a Monster

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Gyeongbyeong Lee
Gyeongbyeong Lee

From middle position, Sergey Tikhonov opened with a raise to 100,000. Action folded around to Gyeongbyeong Lee, who re-raised, making it 245,000 from the small blind. Next to act was Nima Salehizadeh in the big blind, and he called. Action was back to Tikhonov, and he folded.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Lee took a look at Salehizadeh's stack, then put out a bet of 500,000. Salehizadeh moved all in, and Lee quickly called with a covering stack.

Lee: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Salehizadeh: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Salehizadeh had a flush draw, but he was still in bad shape against Lee's aces. Lee held on through the {8-Spades} turn and the {K-Hearts} river, and that awarded the monster pot to Lee, who moved very close to the top of the chip counts.

John Hesp Hero Calls a River Raise

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
John Hesp
John Hesp

John Hesp is a recreational poker player that is enjoying his time here at the WSOP. Hesp shows up every day dressed up in a fancy suit and is one of the most enjoyable people to talk with. He's not just here for a good time, though. Hesp wants to win. All the cameras were pointed in his direction a moment ago.

With the board reading {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and around 700,000 in the middle already, Hesp placed out a bet of 300,000 from the big blind. Wen Zhou was in middle position and raised to 900,000, putting Hesp in the tank. Hesp thought for a few minutes and counted his chips, eventually pushing forward a call. Zhou tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, and Hesp rolled over {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a bigger two pair.

"Yes!" Hesp shouted as he pumped his fists after making a great call.

"You are a professional player now," another player on the table said to Hesp.

"I guess I picked the wrong time to bluff," mumbled Zhou with a disheartened look on his face.

Max Pescatori opened to 120,000 in early position. Action folded around to Dario Sammartino, who re-raised to 290,000 from the small blind. Hallaert then put in a cold four-bet to 725,000 from the big blind. Pescatori quickly got out of the way, but Sammartino called the remainder, bringing the two players to a flop.

On the {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Sammartino checked to Hallaert who led out for 535,000. Sammartino folded and showed {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Hallaert smiled and raked in the big pot, bringing him back closer to where he began the day.

Blumstein Puts Lamb to the Test

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Scott Blumstein
Scott Blumstein

As the camera crew surrounded the table, Ben Lamb and Scott Blumstein were involved in a massive pot. There looked to be about 2,000,000 already in the middle, and the board was on the turn, reading {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Both players checked and saw the {6-Spades} complete the board and put a full house on board, as well. Blumstein took his time and cut out a bet of 840,000. This sent Lamb into the tank for a few minutes, contemplating the huge decision. He eventually folded, and then the table started a conversation about what the two players had as the camera crew was shown their cards.

Lamb, oblivious that this was a thing, asked when his cards or his opponents would be shown. Lamb was told by the crew that the hands would be processed post-production, sparking an idea from Lamb.

"Wait, who around here knows so I can bribe them?" Lamb asked jokingly. "$500!"

Blumstein looked at Lamb and said, "I'll tell you for $600."

Mickey Craft's Main Event Ends with Seven-Deuce

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Mickey Craft
Mickey Craft

On the live stream shortly before the dinner break, Mickey Craft opened to 125,000 in early position, and Michael Ruane three-bet to 325,000 in middle position. Craft called, and they saw a {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop. Craft moved all in for about 1,500,000, and Ruane called.

Craft had {7-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a pair of sevens, but he was behind Ruane's {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Craft was on his feet, and Ruane stared intensely at the board as the {J-Clubs} came on the turn, followed by the {8-Clubs} on the river.

Ruane celebrated with a clap and Craft looked over at his new fiance with a shrug.

In his exit interview with Kara Scott, Craft mentioned he had a great time in the Main Event. He said of the tournament, "This means absolutely nothing," and in regard to his fiance, "I have her for life."

After a romantic run in the Main Event and a romantic exit interview, Craft made his way to the payout desk to collect his $53,247.

Player Interview: Colin Moffat

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Colin Moffatt
Colin Moffatt

Right before the Day 5 dinner break, PokerNews caught up with Canadian Colin Moffat, who started that day as one of the top ten stacks with 3,086,000 and has run it up to 5,580,000 in three levels of play.

When asked about how he feels about his play today, Moffat thought for a second, smiled, and said, "It's going really well. I can't complain."

Of course, it's hard to complain when you are sitting as one of the big stacks deep in the Main.

Moffatt didn't want to go into details on the hands for fear of giving away information. But he did say he felt like he was at a pretty good table, at least good for him. He's been able to apply pressure, and holding the table chip lead has certainly earned him some respect.

He did mention one memorable hand where he won a big pot without even seeing a flop when he five-bet jam. It's that image and his confidence to pull it off that are keeping him near the top of the chip counts.

Moffatt: I'm running really good, and things are working in my favor. I'm making some decent plays here and there, but I'm also getting lucky when I need to.

PokerNews: You had a run in the 2014 Main Event, placing 538th, and you knocked out Johnny Chan from 2013 Main Event on Day 3. It doesn't look like you're a full-time player, though, so can you tell us more?

Moffatt: Mostly, these days, I play just for fun, to be honest. I consider myself a recreational player. I mostly play home games with my friends, and once and a while I play online for fun.

PN: So why the Main Event?

Moffatt: I've played the Main Event for the last six years. I like playing it. It's a great tournament and a lot of fun, so I keep coming out.
