Hall Busts to Gonzales

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Randy Gonzales raised and called the shove of short stack Sara Hall for around 5,000 with the {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. Hall was ahead preflop with {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and the {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop seemingly secured the double. However, the {K-Hearts} turn and {Q-Diamonds} river gave Gonzales runner-runner two pairs and Hall was eliminated.

Welcome to the World of Ari Engel

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Ari Engel (as seen in a previous event)
Ari Engel (as seen in a previous event)

A poker nomad of his own, Ari Engel has been crushing the live scene everywhere in the world. A lot of discussions across poker media arose before the 2017 World Series of Poker. Is it the time for the WSOP Circuit legend to finally take down a bracelet event? Well, he's doing fine in the Tag Team tournament, at least.

Something told us things might get tasty on his table, and the gut feeling proved to be right. Engel was in the small blind and the action was on him after a raise to 1,000 from the player in the hijack and a call from the player in the cutoff. Engel fell into deep thought and then squeezed for 3,700. The original raiser folded, but a call from the cutoff followed.

The flop brought the {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Engel continued for 2,300. His opponent acted quickly, putting in eight yellow chips worth a raise to 8,000. Engel looked at it but it didn't take him more than 30 seconds to announce he was all in. He knew he was in good shape when a request for a count followed, as he had only 6,800 more than the raise — a total of 14,800. The call button was pushed and cards were turned over. Engel showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and was ahead against {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

Things got spicy when the {10-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, as Engel now needed to avoid any diamond card. But his two blockers were strong, and the brick in {3-Spades} sealed the huge double-up for the poker traveller.

Klatt and Yoon Rising

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Since being moved to a new table, Brian Yoon has been able to build a stack and just now chopped a pot with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} versus {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} when a split pot was secured by the turn. Andreas Klatt also moved up nicely to reach an above-average stack.

Natalie Bromley also ran up the stack somewhat before her partner just took over. There is also the former November Niner Federico Butteroni in action and he defended the big blind to a raise worth 900. Butteroni and his opponent checked down the board of {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Butteroni showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, which ended up second best to the {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} of the initial raiser.

Agarwal's Four-Bet All-In Solves the Puzzle

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Coming to the table with many familiar faces, there was a big pot looming as the notables had chips in front of them. It all started with Aditya Agarwal's raise to 800 from the third position. His prize suited his left-hand opponent as well as Barny Boatman. However, Jamie Kerstetter had other plans. Representing Team Crouton, she squeezed to 3,300 from the button and, when the blinds got out of the way, the action was again on Agarwal.

Agarwal took his time to make a decision before declaring he was all in. All other players then released their cards fairly quickly and, while it looked to be a possible giant clash, Agarwal's four-bet shut the door preflop.

Horak Busts; Jazayeri and Ho Don't

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jiri Horak, who finished runner-up in the Colossus last year, just got it in for his last 4,925 from the cutoff and the small blind flat-called with {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Horak only had {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and saw the board run out {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Maria Ho entered late and played one orbit, in which she doubled with ace-nine against king-queen. However, Fedor Holz, Rainer Kempe and Philipp Zukernik will have to play a small and big blind still in order to avoid disqualification.

In the last hand before the break, Valentin Vornicu raised to 900 and Sean Jazayeri three-bet to 5,000 from one seat over. That represented most of his stack, and a shortie called all in for his last 1,400. Vornicu folded and Jazayeri showed {A-Spades}{6-Spades}, the player at risk turned over {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. A board of {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts} changed nothing and Jazayeri boosted his stack slightly.

Another Pot for Agarwal

Nível 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Joining the action on the three-way flop of {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Aditya Agarwal was the only caller of a bet worth 1,800 while Jamie Kerstetter folded. The {4-Hearts} turn was checked and Agarwal bet the {3-Clubs} river for 2,600. His sole opponent called and Agarwal turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} as winning hand.

The table also features Barny Boatman and Jason Wheeler as well, quite some line up for a $1,000 buy-in.

A Big Double for Wheeler

Nível 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Jason Wheeler is still in contention, and the same applies for Thomas Wheeler, who captains his team. And the latter scored a big double soon after coming back from dinner.

Wheeler three-bet out of the small blind and called the four-bet shove of the player in the hijack with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. The opponent only had pocket tens, and the board came {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Wheeler doubled for 21,850 and joined the bigger stacks.
